ESCRIPTION OF THE DEVICE
Intended use
The Plug-on module PxtMX is a modularly expandable adapter board that is installed
at two different heights according to the customer's application, depending on
whether it is equipped with or without a fieldbus interface.
Both variants are in their own housing and are simply plugged and screwed onto the
PxtXX housing.
In its main function, the PxtMX should work as a gateway and generally provide the
option of communication. For this purpose, the PxtMX has an integrated USB
interface ICI for data visualisation and access to important parameters, as well as a
customised fieldbus connection (e.g. optional EtherCAT) to transfer data from the
system's internal communication bus (K-bus) to an external remote station.
The device can also be optionally equipped with a measuring point for
performance evaluation.
In addition to its hardware-bound basic functions (e.g. digital I/O interface), the
PxtMX has a higher-level function whose aim is to connect the energy management
devices, simplify communication and adapt it to the application requirements in a
targeted manner. For this purpose, it acts as a gateway and connects a PLC via
fieldbus (e.g. EtherCAT) with a K-Bus (system-internal communication). In addition to
this basic function, the device offers further functions, such as the possibility of
connecting an optional measuring device for recording the power data for automatic
peak load reduction.
Further tasks of the PxtMX are the possibility to retrieve application-related system-
internal data and information. In this way, manual and automatic processes can be
implemented. For example, the data can be used for visualisation in the PxtTerminal
software or it can be used in a PLC to control the energy flow of the PxtXX devices.
By evaluating the load requirements on the mains side, power peaks can be detected
and countermeasures to protect and relieve the load on the house installation can be
applied in a targeted manner.
Protective devices (e.g. covers) may not be removed.
The PxtMX is to be used within electrical cabinets in the industrial area. Operation in
areas at risk of explosion is prohibited.
Unauthorised modifications are prohibited.
Unauthorised modifications will invalidate all claims under warranty and liability.
Repairs may only be undertaken by the manufacturer.
