Exercise
1.
Start by passing the elasticated waist belt
(accessory) through the loops inside the
chest belt. Put the belt round the patient's
waist and tighten the waist belt. Fasten the
chest belt. You can do this when the pa-
tient is lying down or sitting. The more you
tighten the waist belt, the better the sling
will sit in place when lifting the patient.
2.
The chest belt can be used separately
for support during walking, standing and
balance exercises.
3.
For increased safety, the groin support can
be attached to the chest belt. The groin
support also keeps the chest belt in place
and prevents it from sliding up.
4.
When working with people with serious
functional impairments, for example stroke
victims, the hip belt can be used with the
chest belt. This is designed to put equal
pressure on both hip joints. The aim is to
achieve a better balance and distribute the
patient's weight more evenly.

Troubleshooting

Description
The client is at risk of sliding out
The client is unbalanced when lifted
The sling is too small
Note: It is important that the right sling is used for each client and that it is individually tested to
ensure that it meets the client's need and the transfer situation.
Action
The sling may be too large.
The sling is not correctly fitted - the length of the loops should be
stretched at the same time.
The instructions on the individual test log have not been followed or a
new assessment needs to be carried out.
This can be uncomfortable for the client. The sling can cut into the
client's flesh and/or his/her back may not have enough support.
