13.12 General information on explosion prevention for the Operator

Static electricity:

This product must neither be coated nor varnished in order to prevent electrostatic charging and discharge. Do
not apply plastic adhesive labels (exception QR code sticker from manufacturer).
The yellow plastic closing plugs protecting the valve connections, the cardboard box with plastic cushioning
material and the PE packaging bag must not be used in the potentially explosive area. Prior to bringing the
valve into the potentially explosive area, remove all the protective, transport and packing materials.
All metallic conductive parts must be provided with an electrically conductive connection to each other in order
to prevent static discharge. For this purpose, install the potential equalization equipment and regularly check
and/or inspect it.
To provide an electrical resistance < 1 GΩ: Use electrically conductive compound/lubricant in the spring module/
cone assembly (tip) area. Check the resistance of the valve regularly: Measuring points from the body to the
adjusting screw.
To integrate the valve into the earthing device of the plant, create an electroconductive connection from the
earth connection of the valve to the plant.
Screw connections of the valve shall not be regarded as being permanently electrically safe conductive
connections.
Prior to placing the valve in the potentially explosive area, it must be statically discharged.

Storage and transport

Do not store and transport under potentially explosive atmosphere in order to prevent mechanically generated
sparks originating from the valve or components that are falling down.
The product must be stored, transported and packed securely for transport in a suitable way. Only trained
personnel must carry out these operations. Failure to observe these instructions may lead to various ignition
sources becoming active from improper storage, packing or transport of the valve or its components.

Installation and commissioning

Prior to installation/commissioning, a suitability test (visual inspection and comparison of the type plate with the
actual operating data) and damage-free condition must be verified. Damaged parts must not be used.
In order to avoid an impermissible temperature increase due to adiabatic compression of gases, a slow
pressure increase must be ensured.
