CAT III= Overvoltage category III
• The measuring instrument may be used in installations of Over-
voltage Category III (3) in accordance with IEC 664, provided that
the voltage in the circuit being measured does not exceed 1000
VDC or 750 VAC rms.
• Measuring instruments and accessories are not toys and do not
belong in the hands of children !
• In commercial facilities the accident-prevention regulations of
the industrial employers' liability association for electrical sy-
stems and equipment must be observed.
• In schools, training facilities, hobby and self-help workshops, the
handling of measuring instruments must be supervised responsi-
bly by trained personnel.
• Take particular care when dealing with voltages greater than 25
VAC or greater than 35 VDC. Even at these voltages a lethal el-
ectric shock can be received if electrical conductors are tou-
ched.
• There fore, first of all switch off the power to the current source
and add the clamp into the cable. Switch the current source on
and set the required current measuring range on the measuring in-
strument. After completion of the measurement, switch off the cur-
rent source and remove the current jaw from the current source.
