Reliable operation
• Never allow children to use the machine.
• Keep unauthorised persons and especially small children and animals at a safe
distance from the work area.
Keep people at a safe distance of 15 metres.
•
Never operate the machine under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that
•
may cause drowsiness or affect your ability to use the machine safely.
Always wear approved eye protection with side shields when using the machine to
•
protect your eyes from foreign objects that may be ejected from the machine.
Wear suitable work clothes such as a long-sleeved shirt or jacket and long trousers. Do
•
not wear shorts or loose-fitting clothes that can be caught by the equipment.
Always wear work gloves and sturdy shoes that provide a firm footing and protect your
•
ankles and lower legs from small sticks, splinters and other flying fragments.
• The use of protective headgear is recommended to protect against small flying
particles and low-hanging branches, twigs, etc.
Ear defenders are mandatory.
•
Never place hands and feet near the rotating parts.
•
When crossing a gravel path, pavement or road, stop the rotating trimmer head and
•
wait until the rotations have stopped. Exercise extreme caution and watch out for
hidden hazards and traffic.
Be careful to avoid slipping or falling. Never use the machine in wet grass. Make sure
•
you have a firm footing, wear non-slip footwear, hold on to the handle and walk –
never run.
Always check behind when reversing the machine.
•
Only use the machine in good visibility and good lighting.
•
• Do not allow the engine to run indoors or outdoors in a closed area. The exhaust gas is
dangerous and contains carbon monoxide, an odourless and lethal gas.
Never leave the machine unsupervised when the engine is running. Stop the engine
•
and check that all moving parts have stopped moving. Remove the spark plug lead.
If the machine starts to vibrate abnormally, stop the engine, remove the spark plug
•
lead and make sure it cannot reach the spark plug. Investigate the cause immediately.
Vibrations are generally a sign of a problem.
Watch out for holes, tracks and bumps in the terrain. Tall grass can hide obstacles.
•
Do not cut the grass on very steep slopes (max. 15 degrees). See the guide at the back
•
of this user manual.
Always cut the grass across slopes, never up and down slopes. Exercise extreme
•
caution when changing direction on slopes. Do not cut the grass on a slope if it is too
difficult.
• Do not cut grass near trenches, ditches and embankments. The driver could lose their
footing and balance.
The machine must not be used for cutting hedges, hard branches or shredding
•
material for compost.
