5. Technical description
The retrofit unit continually measures the fill level of the paper towel roll dispenser and
detects other device information: battery charge, opening and closing of the housing
and device restart (for example after battery replacement). This information is sent by
the retrofit unit to a higher-level evaluation system by means of WiFi.
If the fill level is low, a yellow LED on top of the unit flashes and indicates to the user that
the product will soon be empty and should be refilled.
If the battery charge is weak, a red LED on top of the unit flashes and indicates to the user
that the batteries need to be replaced.
Device and WiFi settings can be configured over an NFC interface conveniently using the
OIS app.
Further processing of the data and a detailed overview are facilitated with the OWMS
software (OPHARDT Washroom Monitoring System). The software is not included in the
scope of delivery. For further details, please visit https://www.ophardt.com/de/owms
on the internet or simply scan the QR code.

6. Assembly
Preparation for installation
During installation, make sure that there are no radiation-emitting objects (X-ray machines,
cellphones, ...) in the immediate vicinity. Electromagnetic interference and / or radiating
electrical fields can affect the function.
Compatible with all ACU 1 dispensers. For easy installation of the Smart retrofit kit,
mount the ACU 1 dispenser on the wall.
To use all of the functions, the following conditions must be met:
•
A reliable WiFi signal of IEEE 802.11 b/g/n standard covering the area of use must
be available
•
Data from the smart ACU 1 dispenser are collected in the message collector
(OCG = Ophardt Communication Gateway). This can be installed locally or made
available as an option by Ophardt Hygiene in the cloud. The data are then
transferred to the Ophardt IoT cloud platform.
•
The smart ACU 1 dispenser must be configured for use in the WiFi network.
•
For analysis of the data, an internet-ready end device is required (e.g. PC, laptop, tablet,
smartphone).
Commissioning is carried out by OPHARDT Hygiene employees or persons authorised by
OPHARDT Hygiene.
Required tools
•
Flat head screwdriver (e.g. blade width 1x4 mm)
•
Socket insert with ratchet (size 5.5/M3)
