2.5 USING AND MAINTAINING ELECTRICAL ITEMS

• Check the device for faults or damage. If damaged, have the electrical device repaired by a
specialist before use.

3.0 INTENDED USE

The battery charger is used for charging and maintenance charging of 6 V and 12 V wet, MF, gel
and AGM batteries. Use the product only for the purpose it is intended for. The manufacturer
accepts no liability for damage caused by unintended use. Any modification to the product may
negatively impact safety, cause hazards and invalidate the warranty.
Only suitable for domestic use; not for commercial use.

4.0 UNPACKING INSTRUCTIONS

Open the box and remove the product. After unpacking, please check the product for damage
and to ensure it is complete. Subsequent complaints cannot be accepted.

5.0 BEFORE USING THE DEVICE FOR THE FIRST TIME

5.1 PREPARING THE CHARGING PROCESS

• If necessary, remove the battery from the vehicle for charging. Always remove the earthed
clamp from the battery first. Ensure that all car accessories are switched off to prevent arcing.
• Ensure that the area around the battery is well ventilated during charging. Gas can be blown
using a piece of cardboard or other non-metallic material used as a fan.
• Clean the battery clamps. Take care to ensure that no corrosion residues come into contact
with the eyes.
• Top up each cell with distilled water until the battery acid reaches the level specified by the
battery manufacturer. This removes excess gas from the cells. Do not overfill. Carefully follow
the manufacturer's charging instructions for a battery without cell caps.
• Familiarise yourself thoroughly with the specific precautions indicated by the battery
manufacturer (e.g. regarding the removal or non-removal of the cell caps and the
recommended charging levels).
• Refer to the vehicle manufacturer's manual to determine the battery voltage and ensure that
the output voltage selector switch is set to the correct voltage.
• If the charger's charging level is adjustable, charge the battery with the lowest charging level
first.

5.2 POSITIONING THE CHARGER

• Position the charger as far away from the battery as the DC cable allows.
• Never place the charger directly above the battery to be charged. Corrosive gases that can
damage the charger escape from the battery.
• Never allow battery acid to drip onto the charger.
• Never use the charger in enclosed indoor spaces or areas with otherwise restricted ventilation.
• Do not place a battery on the charger.

5.3 PRECAUTIONS FOR THE DC CONNECTION

• Connect and disconnect the clamps only after the mains plug has been removed from the
mains socket.
• Always ensure that the clamps do not come into contact with one another.
