• Redness
Your skin may become red immediately after using the hair removal device
or within 24 hours. The redness usually disappears within 24 hours.
Consult your doctor if it persists beyond 2 to 3 days.
• Excessive redness and swelling
In some rare cases, the treated skin may become very red and swollen. This reaction
is more common on sensitive body parts. The redness and swelling should disappear
within 2-7 days during which you will need to apply ice regularly. A gentle cleaning
does not pose any problem but you should avoid sun exposure.
• Skin hypersensitivity
Skin is sensitive on the treated area and could become dry or flaky.
• Change in pigmentation
The device targets the root of the hair, especially the melanin in the
hair bulb. However, there is a risk of temporary hyperpigmentation (increased
pigmentation or brown discoloration) or hypopigmentation (whitening) of the
surrounding skin area. The risk of changes in pigmentation is higher among people
with dark skin.
Generally, the change in pigmentation and discoloration are temporary. Cases of
permanent hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation are rare.
• Scarring
Although these cases are very rare, permanent scarring can occur. Generally, scars
take the form of a superficial whitish lesion (hypotrophic). Scars can be large and red
(hypertrophic) or large and spread beyond the injured area (keloid). More advanced
aesthetic treatments may be required to improve its appearance.
