Cleaning the surfaces
Cleaning the surfaces
The surfaces must be dry and free of dust, oil,
oxides, separating agents and other dirt/impu-
rities.
Clean both the adhesive surface on the base
of the sensor and the place you want to affix
the sensor.
Cleaning agents that do not leave behind any
residue and do not chemically attack the
substrate are suitable for this purpose.
The following cleaning agents can be used for example:
•
Technical cleaning agents (with no additives such as silicones and smelling agents)
•
Isopropanol/water (50/50)
•
Heptane or ethanol
•
Acetone or MEK
For synthetics and paints, check their compatibility with solvents (stress cracking,
absorption of solvents).
Adherence to the safety regulations from manufacturers is an absolute
requirement when working with solvents and chemicals.
Use clean, lint-free, single-use cloths to clean the surfaces. Cleaned surfaces
must be bonded quickly to prevent dust and fingerprints dirtying them
again.
Mechanical surface cleaning
If simple cleaning of the surfaces with the
cleaners mentioned above is not adequate, you
can improve surface adhesion by roughing
them slightly (such as with non-woven
webbing).
Before doing so, clean the surface(s) with a
suitable cleaning agent.
After the process, remove the abrasive dust
with a second clean.
