by testing for the correct height. Repeat the
procedure with the second climbing spur.
2.2) Length adjustment of the straps
Adjust the straps according to the strap
variant of your climbing spurs.
Click buckle straps: The length of the straps
with the click buckles must be adjusted so
that the leg is held firmly by the strap.
Lower click-buckle straps and Velcro straps:
The length of the rear heel strap (C.2) must
be adjusted so that the heel of the working
boot is just behind the stirrup and is firmly
held by the strap: Open the velcro straps.
Grip the heel firmly with the straps and press
the velcro straps firmly together to ensure a
strong hold. Additionally, the angles of the
straps can be adjusted for a better fit: Loosen
the screw on the outside of the climbing
spurs and the lower gaff screw. Place your
foot in the stirrup with your normal footwear.
Tighten the straps and at the same time twist
the angles of the straps until your shoe is
perfectly enclosed. Tighten the screws again.
The screws must be tightened with 25 Nm for
aluminium shafts and 10 Nm for CF shafts
and secured with a medium screw lock such
as Loctite 243.
Classic straps: If the straps are not already
mounted on the climbing spurs, the spring
washer must be attached to the lower eye
bolt. The buckle must point forward, towards
the tip of the foot.
3) Application instructions
3.1) Inspection checklist before and after
each use
Follow the instructions step by step before
each use to ensure a comfortable and safe
ascent (see 6.1).

3.2) Instructions for application

To keep the sharpness of the gaffs and to
avoid accidents, the climbing spurs should
be put on just before climbing, not earlier.
There is a left and a right climbing spur,
which differ from each other. Right and left
variants are indicated on the inside of the
pad. Place the climbing spurs so that the
gaffs and the shaft on the inside of the leg
are facing each other. The long side of the
curved shell must face forward and support
the shin. Pull and tighten the upper straps.
For upper velcro straps: The red label
"MINIMUM WRAP WARNING" must pass
through the steel ring. This ensures that
there is a minimum overlap of Velcro tape to
hold the climbing spurs securely. Failure to
achieve this minimum overlap could result in
serious injury or death. Pull and tighten the
lower straps. Do not remove the gaff
protectors until shortly before climbing.
3.3) Climbing instructions
The climbing spurs may only be used with a
harness according to EN 358, EN 813 or a
safety harness according to EN 358, EN 362
together with lanyards (according to EN 358),
safety goggles, protective gloves, long-
sleeved protective clothing and a helmet with
