"In-Joint" Mounting
• As an alternative to "Hook-In" mount-
ing, the "In-Joint" variant (figure 5) can
be used for AVANCIS PV modules. In this
type of mounting, one SMART clamp
holds 2 PV modules, except for the mod-
ules at the beginning and end of a mod-
ule row. The SMART clamps shall only be
mounted as shown in figure 4.
• In order to install a second module, make
sure that the clamps are placed over the
mounting lip of the first module and
slide the second module towards the first
module. The mounting lip of the second
module will automatically lift the clamp
and the clamp will go down after the
mounting lip of this module is also under
the clamp. Finally, fasten the clamp once
the second module has been positioned
correctly.
• The glass edges of the two modules
must not touch during installation as this
can result in the glass breaking.

Modules with variable length
• For AVANCIS SKALA PV modules with
variable length, the same regulations re-
garding the clamp position are valid as
for the full format. The optimal position
of the SMART clamp is the middle of the
mounting lip.
• On SKALA PV modules shorter than
1256 mm, the slip-off protection is po-
sitioned inwards, changing the permissi-
ble clamping area on the mounting lip.
Figure 6 shows the permissible clamping
area on the mounting lip in this case,
excluding the first 3 cm and the last
4.5 cm, measured from the outer end.
• When installing PV modules with a
length of less than 725 mm in the hori-
zontal mounting direction (landscape) on
a non-planar substructure (e.g., building
corners), please take notice of the follow-
ing: Installation of such modules on both
sides, while keeping the same appear-
ance as that of the solid surface, is not
possible (figure 7 b). In order to achieve a
homogeneous appearance, a PV module
of length less than 725 mm has to meet
a PV module of length 725 mm or larger
at the non-planar location (figure 7 a).
