The product is intended for networking computers via network cables. 5 twisted-pair connections
(RJ45) are available.

improper use or non-compliance with the safety instructions. The warranty

The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible due
to safety and approval reasons (CE).
The design of the wall plug transformer complies with safety class II. As for the volt-
age source for the mains transformer, only a proper power socketconnected to the
public grid may be used.
The product is intended for use in dry indoor locations, it must not get damp or wet!
There is a risk of a lethal electric shock!
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children. Therefore,
be especially careful when children are around.
Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since it could become
a dangerous plaything for children.
Handle the product with care; knocks, blows or even a fall from a low height can
damage it.
Connection
Connect the round plug from the power transformer to the low voltage connector on the network
switch. Then connect the power transformer to a mains socket.
The connections can be connected to appropriate RJ45 jacks on the network cards or another
network switch.
The network switch supplied has automatic uplink recognition for each port, which
allows for particularly simple wiring to other switches (a cross-link cable etc. is not
required any longer).
One LED per port is used as Link-/Act-LED. The LED is lit continually for a faultless
network connection or it flashes during data transfers.
Maintenance and Cleaning
The product does not require any maintenance and should never be disassembled for any
reason.
To clean the product, use a dry, clean and soft cloth; before cleaning, disconnect the product
from the power supply, unplug the AC adaptor from the mains socket.

Tips & Notes
• If you have your own network or system administrator for your network (as will probably be the
case in a larger company), please let this person assume the responsibility for connection and
wiring. Do not connect the network switch yourself!
• The twisted pair cable between the network switch and computer must not be longer than
100 m. Only use so-called CAT5e-cables at least.
• The LEDs, for each network port, indicate if there is a correct twisted pair cable and connec-
tion (LED on), a missing cable or incorrect connection (LED off) or data transmission (LED
blinks).
• The maximum theoretical date transfer rate of 10, 100 or 1000MBit is usually not achieved in
practice. During data transmission, not only data, but also protocol information etc is trans-
mitted, data packages must be repeated or different computers may want to transmit data at
the same time. Furthermore, the data must be read off the hard disk of one computer and writ-
ten onto the hard disk of another computer.
• If the network switch is not supplied with power from the plug-in power unit, all the connections
will be out of operation. A network connection is not possible.

Only use in dry indoor locations. The product must not get damp or wet. There is a
risk of a lethal electric shock!
Never use the product immediately after it has been taken from a cold room in to a
warm one. The condensation that forms might destroy the product. Moreover, with
the AC adaptor, there is danger of an electric shock!
Leave the product switched off and wait until it has reached room temperature
before you use it. This may take several hours.
Ensure the insulation of the entire product is neither damaged nor destroyed. The
housing must not be opened!
Any maintenance or repair work must only be carried out by authorised personnel.
Check the product for damage before each use!
If you detect any damage, DO NOT connect the product to the mains supply!
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if
- the device shows visible signs of damage,
- the device does not operate any longer and
- if the device was stored under adverse conditions for a long period of time or
- it has been subjected to considerable stress in transit.
If you do not use the product for a longer period of time (e.g. when stored), discon-
nect the mains plug from the mains socket (all the networkconnections cease to
function!)
Avoid the following unfavourable environmental conditions at the installation loca-
tion and during transportation:
- Damp or excess air humidity
- Extreme cold or heat
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- strong vibrations
- Strong magnetic fields such as those found close to machinery or loud-
speakers
When setting up the product, make sure that the cables are neither kinked nor
pinched.
When disposing of an unserviceable product, do so in line with the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
