Shielding and cable routing

To use both communication channels of the BIC system
simultaneously, the system requires special wiring and two
IO-Link master ports. The supply voltage of the IO-Link
masters plays an important role in this case. A distinction is
made between two cases.

Same supply of the IO-Link master ports
If the source is the same, the following ports can be
connected:
– the supply voltages together
– the GNDs (L−) together

NOTICE
Malfunctions
Equalizing currents can occur with different supply
sources, which can cause malfunctions and system
crashes.
► Plan the system carefully.
► Only connect the supply voltage lines if the supply
system of the plant allows this.
Both GNDs (L−) must be connected together.

Cable length
For IO-Link operation, the maximum cable length is 20 m
(both between the IO-Link master and Base and between
Remote and the IO-Link device).
