Notes on Safety

Instructions for installation and connection
Disconnect the battery ground wire during installation and connection.
When drilling a hole, be sure not to damage any vehicle parts (battery,
cable, fuse case, etc.).
The positive cable must have a cross-section of at least 1 mm. The unit
is protected by a quick-acting fuse of 5 A.
If a cassette is inserted, take it out before pulling the car radio out of the
QuickOut sleeve.
Notes on installation and connection
The car radio has been prepared for QuickOut operation. Further
components such as equalizers or amplifiers can be easily adapted to the
set.
QuickOut operation
By means of the sleeve delivered with the car radio you can mount the
unit in cars with DIN cut-out of 182 x 53 mm, an installation depth of
175 mm (with distance frame 165 mm) and a thickness of the instrument
panel of 2.5 - 18 mm in the area of the fixing strips, see fig. 1, 2, 3.
Connection with QuickOut installed ex factory
If a car is fitted with a QuickOut sleeve ex factory (at present Opel),
the latter has to be removed.
Operation without QuickOut
For this, however, the QuickOut mounting sleeve can be used.
For stationary use, the handle and the lateral springs have to be replaced
by the corresponding mounting sleeve (order no. 9 648 053 954) and the
lock-in springs (order no. 9 648 055 577), see fig. 4, 5. If the QuickOut
sleeve is not used, the set has to be installed with the universal mounting
kit (order no.7 608 0026 73) or a vehicle-specific one.
Preparation of car radio installation
Install the car radio into the DIN cut-out provided in your car's dashboard
ex factory.
Prepare the car radio DIN cut-out (unlock shelf or dummy cover) or cut
out the car radio compartment to 182 x 53 mm, see fig. 1a.
Grasp behind the car radio cut-out and check how many of the fixing
strips of the car radio support may be bent.
Note:
Try to bend as many fixing strips as possible.

Blaupunkt offers adapter cables for the common vehicle types.
Connection via the vehicle's system connector when not using
the QuickOut sleeve
Blaupunkt offers adapter cables for the common vehicle types.
For Audi, Opel and VW vehicles an adaptor cable must be used although
these cars have a pre-equipped ISO connector. Otherwise the vehicle's
electric system will be interfered.

Car radio installation
Insert the sleeve into the cut-out and bend the appropriate fixing strips
with a screwdriver, see fig. 6, 7.
Insert the car radio into the sleeve and push in until the lock-in springs on
both sides engage (distinct click to be heard).
Removing a QuickOut set
To take out the radio, first press the button (top right) to release the
handle, then move the handle in a horizontal position to release the lock-
in springs, and finally pull the main unit out with the handle, fig. 12.
Removing a non-QuickOut set
Insert the brackets (order no. 8 601 910 002) right and left into the
provided trimplate holes and push in until you hear a distinct click (lateral
springs are unlocked).
Using both brackets (see fig. 13), pull the unit out.
Note:
Locked brackets can only be removed after taking out the unit.
Notes on Connection, fig. 9
Ground cable
Do not connect the ground cable to the negative pole of the battery.
Route the ground cable to a suitable ground point (car body screw, car
body metal sheet) and shorten it accordingly.
Remove the insulation from the ground cable and attach the forked cable
lug (if necessary, solder it).
Scratch off the paint from the contact area of the ground point and
lubricate it with graphite grease (important for good ground contact).
Screw on the ground cable.
Positive cable (ACC 12 V) (ignition)
Connect the positive cable together with distributor to pin 15 (positive line
connected via ignition) of the fuse holder behind the fuse.
Permanent plus connection (Battery 12 V)
Connect the permanent plus terminal together with the cable and cable
clamp to a fuse-protected positive line (e.g. clock, warning flasher).
Control cable (Power Antenna +)
When connecting a fully automatic motor antenna, use the cable clamp
to fasten the control cable of the motor antenna to the control cable.
