Initial commissioning

During initial commissioning of the control unit, the following configurations have to be made/checked in the menu
(see 9.3.3 Menu structure):
1. Setting of the magnet type suitable for the connected magnet
2. As this version of the control unit does not support actuation of electromagnets, this mode must be deactivated in
the menu. ("El.mag.PWM  off")
3. Setting of the demagnetising curve and the associated fine adjustment
4. Setting of the holding force curve, the minimum holding force curve with subsequent calibration (Attention:
During calibration, a magnetising cycle with enable holding force is performed followed by
a demagnetising cycle)
5. A clamp-and-release cycle with full holding force and the magnet connected has to be run to check whether the
control unit correctly magnetises and demagnetises a sample workpiece.

Clamping/releasing

The following provides an explanation of the clamping and releasing processes. The associated information shown
in the display is provided in the appendix (see 9.3.2 Clamping/releasing).
5.5.1

Clamping (magnetising)

The following steps have to be carried out to start the clamping process:
1. The desired holding force has to be set using pins 5, 7, 9 and 11.
2. The "Input enable" signal (pin 6) of the control interface has to be on potential high.
3. The "Impulse magnetising" signal (pin 8) of the control interface has to be on potential high for at least 0.5 s.
If the impulse is on potential high for longer than 2.5 s, no enable is issued after clamping.
"Clamping lev. xx" is shown in the display during the clamping process (see 9.3.2 Clamping/releasing). Pins 13/15
and 14/16 for light red/green on the connector alternate between on/off state.

NOTE!
The device leaves the place of manufacture with a "zero configuration". This
is a special configuration which provides the lowest possible energy at each
holding force level on the magnet connection. This is to ensure that the cor-
rect setting for the magnet has to be selected during initial commissioning.
In certain cases, these settings can already be made at SAV GmbH before
the magnet system (control unit and magnet) is delivered. Nevertheless, the
configuration has to be checked during initial commissioning on site.
NOTE!
The logic level is inverted. This means if the pins are on low, the full holding
force is always used for clamping.
