Measurement Cable
Measurement cables for standard types are available in
different lengths (→ Pfeiffer Vacuum Catalog).
Operation
After connection the gauge is ready for operation.
NOTE
Measurement cables influence the accuracy of measure-
ment. If cables with lengths over 20 m are used, we strong-
ly recommend adjusting the gauge together with the cable.
For details refer to the operating manual of the correspond-
ing controller.
Alignment
The Pirani gauge is factory calibrated. For most applications,
it needs to be realigned. This allows to correct measurement
errors caused by spread between units, temperature and the
influence of the cable length. The gauge is aligned according
to the operating manual of the measurement unit used.
Gas Type Dependence
The measurement value is gas dependent. The reading ap-
plies to dry air, N
, O
, and CO. For other gases, it has to be

converted. In the pressure range below 1 mbar, this can be
done by entering the corresponding calibration factor on the
Pfeiffer Vacuum controller.
Maintenance
Realignment at the measurement unit can become necessary
in the following events:
• Aging
• Contamination
• After cleaning
Periodic replacement of the filter B41612003G is advisable if
contaminated gases are measured (→ Disassembly).
Cleaning
DANGER
Before starting work, inform yourself about any possible
contamination of the vacuum units and their components.
Make sure to adhere to the relevant regulations and safety
measures for contaminated products.
When using cleaning agents make sure to adhere to the
applicable handling and disposal regulations and safety
measures.
Procedure
1. Disassemble the gauge (→ Disassembly)
2. Clean or replace the filter
3. Fill the measurement chamber with a solvent (e.g. ben-
zene) and allow it to work for some time. Repeat this pro-
cedure is necessary.
4. Pour the solvent out
5. Rinse the vacuum chamber and the filter with alcohol for
several times in order to remove all solvent residues
6. Dry at ≈70°C
7. Insert the filter
8. Install the gauge (→Installation)
