Responsibility of the owner
The owner of the machine is subject to statutory occupational health and safety obligations. In addition to
the safety instructions in this manual, all applicable occupational health and safety, accident prevention,
and environmental protection regulations must be complied with.
The owner must inform himself of applicable occupational health and safety regulations, and conduct a
hazard analysis to identify additional hazards that may exist at the installation site of the machine due to
the special work conditions. The owner must incorporate this information in operating instructions for
operation of the machine.
During the entire time that the machine is in service the owner must ensure that the operating instruc-
tions drawn up by the owner correspond to the current state of legislation, and if necessary must adapt
these operating instructions accordingly.
The owner must define and clarify responsibilities for installation, operation, maintenance, and cleaning, and
take measures to ensure that all employees who operate or service the machine have read and understood
the manual. In addition, the owner must train personnel and inform them of hazards at regular intervals.
The owner must allow operating personnel to reject unsafe instructions from third parties.
The owner must provide the required protective equipment (PPE) for personnel. The operating manual
must be stored where it is accessible to all personnel who work with or at the machine.
The owner is also responsible for keeping the machine in perfect technical condition at all times. The
specified maintenance intervals must be observed. The owner must establish a procedure that ensures
that the machine, or individual components, can be put into operation only if all maintenance tasks have
been properly executed within the intervals specified in the maintenance schedule.
The owner must ensure that all safety notices and hazard notices on the machine are legible, and
replace them if necessary.
