Detaching
1. Detach the front piece of the passive headrest from the back piece.
2. Remove the patient from the headrest.
3. Detach the headrest from the table.
4. Remove and discard the disposable pads and straps.
5. Proceed to "Cleaning".
Cleaning
Note: After each use, the passive headrest should be cleaned.
1. After each use and prior to the use of disinfectant, thoroughly clean the front
and back pieces of the headrest with mild soap and a soft brush. The use of a
neutral pH (7.0 to 8.5) level detergent is recommended to prevent staining or
corrosion.
2. After cleaning the headrest, soak the two pieces in a standard disinfectant
according to the disinfectant instructions for low-level disinfection.
3. Rinse the headrest using distilled or sterile water to remove any chemical
residue.
Note: Do not use tap water to rinse the headrest. Tap water can have a high mineral
content, which can cause corrosion.
4. Allow the headrest to air dry.
5. Store the headrest with other surgery equipment not intended to be sterilized.
Reusing
Note: Before reusing the passive headrest, inspect both pieces of the headrest for
signs of corrosion. If any burrs, nicks, corrosion, or other damage is seen, discard the
headrest.
1. Obtain a Model PH-2510 Passive Headrest Accessories for replacement pads and
straps.
2. Position the pads and press them onto the headrest.
3. Fasten the straps into place:
a. Snap one end of each of the four straps into a buckle on the back piece
of the headrest (the piece with the starburst adapter).
b. Snap the other end of the four straps into the corresponding buckle on
the front piece of the headrest.
4. Proceed to "Attaching".
Disposal Instructions
Dispose of the Headrest and it's components according to Hospital Protocol.
