CAUtion:
Formation of the flash capacitor is absolutely necessary:
Before putting the unit into operation for the first time.
When the unit was not in use for more than 3 months.
Formation Process::
1. C onnect the supplied mains cable to a power outlet
and switch on the unit.
2. I ncrease the energy output at 15 min. intervals over
the five f-stop range (1/16 - 1/1).
3. D o NOT fire any flashes during the formation
process!!!
4. Leave the unit set at full energy for about one hour.
Formation of the flash capacitor is completed after one
hour and the unit is ready for use. As soon as the unit
is connected to the mains it indicates "stand-by" mode
via the first decimel point on the units display.
1. „teSt"-BUtton
Use the „TEST" button (7) to check if all units in
a multi-flash set-up are ready for firing. Remember
to activate the IR-receiver/photocell on each unit by
pressing the corresponding pushbutton (5).
When the „TEST" (7) button is pressed all units should
fire simultaneously.
2. ir-reCeiVer/PhotoCell
The IR-receiver/the so called photocell can be switched
on and off by actuating the corresponding pushbutton
(5). The IR-receiver/photocell becomes active when the
corresponding pushbutton (5) is pressed. The second
decimal point on the units display indicates that the
IR-receiver/photocell is active by blinking every second.
3. AUtomAtiC temPerAtUre Control
The unit is equipped with a temperature control which
switches off the flash- and the halogen light as soon as
the units´ inside temperature rises over approx. 50°C .
When the unit has cooled-off, all functions are being
switched on automatically by the temperature control,
again. However, temperatures of over 50°C are only
being reached under extreme circumstances like direct,
long-term solar radiation together with a extremely high

flash count. The unit will not overheat when used in
an usual studio set-up.
4. FUSe
The unit comes with a quick-blow fuse that cuts off in
the case of malfunction. The fuse should only be ex-
changed by an authorized MULTIBLITZ service location.
5. SynChroniSAtion
There are three possible ways of synchronizing the
unit(s) with a camera:
1. Plug the supplied sync cable (MASYG, Art.Nr.
732045) into the units´ sync terminal (8) on the oper-
ating panel and connect it to your camera. In a multi-
flash set-up the sync cable only needs to be connected
to the master-unit, all other slave-units will fire without
delay, triggered by their built-in IR-receiver/photocell
(4). Remember to activate the IR-receiver/photocell
on each slave-unit by pressing the corresponding push-
button (5) (See „2. IR-Receiver/Photocell").
2. The unit(s) may also be fired using the supplied
wireless trigger kit (X SLAVE, Art.Nr. 712010).
Attach the transmitter to the cameras´ flash shoe,
attach the receiver to the flash unit by plugging it into
the units´ sync terminal (8). In a multi-flash set-up,
only the receiver needs to be connected to the master-
unit; all other units will fire without delay, triggered by
their built-in IR-receiver/photocell (4). Remenber to
activate the IR-receiver/photocell on each unit by press-
ing the corresponding pushbutton (5)
(See „2. IR-Receiver/Photocell").
3. The unit(s) may also be fired without a sync cable
using an ir-remote trigger (MUSEN, Art.Nr. 719037).
Attach the IR-remote trigger to your cameras´ flash
shoe. The flash units´ IR-receiver/photocell must be
activated by pressing the corresponding pushbutton
(5). The unit(s) will fire synchronously with the camera
when it is being triggered. In a multi-flash set-up,
activate the IR-receiver/photocell on each unit by
pressing the corresponding pushbutton (2)
(See „2. IR-Receiver/Photocell").
