Explanation of Symbols
An exclamation mark in a triangle indicates important instructions in this operating manual which
must be adhered to.
The arrow symbol is used when specific tips and information on the operation are provided.
Safety Instructions
Please read the operating instructions carefully and pay particular attention to the safety
instructions. We do not assume liability for injuries/material damages resulting from fail-
ure to observe the safety instructions and the information in these operating instructions
regarding the proper handling of the product. Furthermore, in such cases, the warranty/
guarantee will be null and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is not allowed for safety and
approval reasons. Never disassemble the product; there are no components inside the hous-
ing that you need to set or service. Besides, this will invalidate the warranty!
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children!
• The programming card must not get damp or wet.
• Please observe the operating instructions of the respective speed controller.
• Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around, since it could become a danger-
ous plaything for children.
Programming
With the programming card, all possible settings of the speed controller can be programmed very easily. On
the front side of the programming card, there is a socket for connecting the speed controller by a connecting
cable. In case the speed controller to be programmed does not have a BEC system, the supply voltage has
to be set up via a Y-cable and a separate voltage source (for e.g., receiver battery).
Ensure you connect them with the correct polarity. Accordingly observe the colours of the con-
necting cable and the instructions on the programming card.
Black (sometimes also brown) = Minus/-
Red = Plus/+
White (sometimes also yellow or orange) = Pulse signal
The programming card is suitable for multiple types of speed controllers. The speed controller is connected
directly via the servo connecting cable of the speed controller to the programming cable.
Proceed as follows to programme the speed controller:
• Switch off the speed controller.
• Connect the servo plug of the speed controller to the programming card; observe accordingly the correct
polarity of the servo plug (black or brown = Minus/-, etc.)
• Connect the speed controller to a drive battery and switch it on.
The blue control LED "Work State" of the programming card lights up for approx. two seconds. In this time
span, the first LEDs will light up for all setting options (for e.g., "Low Voltage Cut Off", "Start modes", etc.)
and the programming status of each individual function will be retrieved.
• After approx. two seconds, the blue LED "Work State" goes out. Now the LEDs that correspond to the
current programming of the speed controller will light up in the individual setting options ("Low Voltage Cut
Off", "Start modes", etc.).
• Now press the arrow button " " once. For the function "Low Voltage Cut Off" all LEDs will light up briefly
one after another.
• Now press the arrow button "
" repeatedly until the desired setting value is reached as the correspond-
ing LED lights up.
• Confirm this setting by pressing the "Programme" button. The blue LED "Work State" will light up briefly as
confirmation. The programming for the first function ("Low Voltage Cut Off") is thus concluded.
• If you want to conduct further programming, you can select other functions by pressing the arrow
button " ".
The programming card is suitable for a certain speed controller series. The selectable functions
are the same for all speed controllers. The setting values of different types are, however, slightly
different for the function "Max. Brake Force". Please consult the information on the programming
card or this operating instructions regarding which setting value can be programmed for which
type of speed controller.
With the "RESET" button you can reset the speed controller to the default setting (factory setting). Saving the
setting with the "Programme" button is not necessary here.
After the programming is complete, switch off the speed controller again and disconnect it from the driving
battery after you have conducted and saved all the settings. Unplug the servo plug of the speed controller
from the programming card and connect the plug back to the receiver socket intended for it. Your vehicle is
now ready for use with a newly programmed speed controller.
Available setting functions
1. Low voltage detection "Low Voltage Cut-Off":
The low-voltage detection is possible for the operation of the model with LiPo as well as NiMH batteries.
It is particularly recommended to activate this function when using LiPo batteries to avoid dangerous deep
discharge of the batteries. For LiPo batteries, the set values refer to one voltage value per battery cell.
Example: With a setting of 3.1 V, the speed controller will switch off the motor when a 2-cell LiPo battery is
under 2 x 3.1 V = 6.2 V.
If you use a NiMH battery and a voltage of under 9 V is detected after the speed controller is switched on,
the speed controller will perform the switching-off like for a 2-cell LiPo battery.
Example: If the speed controller detects an 8.0 V battery voltage and the shutdown voltage per cell is set
to 2.7 V, the low-voltage detection will switch off the motor when a battery voltage of 5.4 V (2 x 2.7 V =
5.4 V) is reached.
We recommend to set the value of 3.1 V/cell for LiPo batteries.
The battery voltage is monitored permanently. If a low-voltage is detected even momentarily, the power is
reduced to 50% for a few seconds. The motor is switched off after about another 10 seconds. In this case,
stop the driving operation immediately and recharge the battery fully.
2. Starting dynamics "Start Mode / (Punch)":
You can set the start dynamics with this function. The motor reacts softer or more aggressive to the control
command of the transmitter according to the set value. For the "Soft" setting, the vehicle will start softer. If
you choose "Medium", the start-up is already more aggressive. If you programme it to "Strong", the starting
dynamics are the strongest. This setting is however the most taxing for the gear, the wheels, as well as the
driving battery. Therefore, we recommend the "Medium" setting.
3. Control characteristics for the brake "Max Brake Force":
Here you can set the brake effect when moving the control lever at the transmitter during forwards driving into
the end stop position reverse (or brake). The higher the set value, the stronger the brake effect. The higher
the brake effect is set, the higher the stress experienced by gears and wheels. You can find the respective
available setting value based on the information in the programming card depending on the type of speed
controller (for e.g., 45 A).
4. Speed for driving backwards "Max Reverse Force":
With this function, you define the percentage value of the speed (in proportion to driving forwards) with which
the vehicle can be driven backwards. The higher the set value, the faster the driving in reverse.
5. Neutral position "Neutral Range":
With the so-called "Neutral Range" setting, the range of the neutral position of the transmitter can be set
(the range of the lever travel of the throttle / brake level that should be recognised as the neutral position).
The lower the set value, the more sensitively the motor control reacts to the neutral position of the throttle
at the transmitter.
General Operating Information
When changing between forwards and reverse, the throttle must be put briefly into the neutral position (ca.
2 seconds). If the throttle is shifted directly from forwards to reverse, the speed controller's brake will be
activated (the vehicle will NOT go backwards!).
