G Operating Instructions
microSD card collector
Item no. 1170562
Intended use
The product has two slots for microSD / microSDHC memory cards. Through the in-
tegrated controller, the two memory cards are combined into a single data storage
medium. Depending on the memory cards used, the speed when reading / writing to
the disk can become higher.
The connection is like that of a conventional USB stick to a USB port on the computer,
thus eliminating the need for a driver software.

Inserting/removing memory cards
Insert one microSD / microSDHC memory card (microSD up to max. 2 GB, microSDHC
up to 32 GB) into one of the memory card slots.
When different memory cards are used, then the achievable speed when
reading or writing is less than that with two identical memory cards.
The memory cards are grouped in a single drive. Therefore: If one of the mem-
ory card is removed (or the memory cards are swapped in both drawers ),
all data may be lost from both memory cards!
If you want to remove the memory card (e.g. exchange for two other memory
cards), mark them accordingly!
Connection and getting started
Connect the card collector to a free USB2.0 port on your computer. During the initial
connection, Windows recognises the new hardware; the drivers are already included
in Windows.
When you first connect the card collector (with memory card microSD / microSDHC
inside), it will appear as a new drive e.g. in the file manager of Windows (the 2 memory
cards are managed as a single correlated drive, so 2 drives do not appear in the file
manager, but only one).
However, before data can be stored on it, the drive must be formatted (as with a new
hard disk). If you click on the drive in Windows, a message appears that the drive is
not formatted and asks if you would like to format it. Accept this.
Any file system can be chosen (e.g. NTFS). Should exFAT be used, a system update
for Windows XP should be done, because exFAT is not supported by Windows XP
otherwise. Visit the website www.microsoft.com and search there for the update of
the exFAT file system for Windows XP.
Deleting or creating partitions is same as in Windows from the control panel or in disk
management. This is required even if the memory cards used in the card collector will
be reused later!
After formatting the new drive, it can be used e.g. as a conventional USB stick.
Disconnecting the card collector
If a read/write access is underway in the card collector (LED flashes), wait until it is
finished. Afterwards, disconnect the card collector from the USB port.
If the card collector is removed during a read/write access, data on the me-
mory card may be damaged and the memory card may have to be formatted
once again.
Disposal
Dispose of the unserviceable product according to the relevant statutory
regulations!
