1.Setting up operation
The Balance+ phono-preamplifier reaches the best possible channel separation. A consequent
channel separated layout between the left and
right channel is mandatory in this design.
Therefore all switches are separated for the left and right channel.
Please make sure, that both corresponding switches are always in the same position. You should use
e.g. a ball pen to change the switching positions.
Select cartridge type operation mode:
Use the switches on the bottom of the Balance+ housing as follows:
MM-operation: Both buttons „load/gain" non pressed
(load impedance = 47 kOhm)
MC-operation: Both buttons „load/gain" pressed
(load impedance = 510 Ohm)
Select input mode between unbalanced and balanced operation:
Use the switches on the bottom of the Balance+ housing as follows:
balanced / symmetrical operation: Both buttons non pressed
(use symmetrical XLR interconnects for input and output!)
unbalanced / unsymmetrical operation: Both buttons pressed
(use unsymmetrical cinch-interconnects for input and output!)
Subsonic-Filter:
Use the switches on the bottom of the Balance+ housing as follows:
subsonic filter is on: Both Buttons „subsonic" pressed
subsonic filter is off: Both Buttons „subsonic" non pressed
Please note:
Before changing any adjustments of the switches, shut off the power of the Balance+ at
the back panel of the power supply.
Mute-function:
The button „mute" on the front panel switches the signal off. A blue light above the switch shows that
the mute-function is activated.
Variable-function:
The Button „variable" on the front panel activates the volume control.
A blue light above the switch shows that volume (amplification) can be used by turning the volume
knob in the front panel.
To prevent your loudspeaker from any damage, please be sure, that your power
amplifier(s) are always switched off, when you are changing the interconnects to or from
the Balance+ phono-preamplifier!
