INSTALLATIoN AND USE

• Your battery is equipped with screw battery terminals in size M8. Make sure if you connect
your electric outboard or other device to the battery to use M8 tongue connectors. remove
the protective caps on the battery terminals before use and charge the battery (the battery is
not fully charged yet due to transport and storage requirements).
• When you connect your equipment to the battery please ensure that the connecting cables
have M8 tongue connectors and preferably a fuse and (as for instance with the Quick
connect eM and FF cables). tighten the M8 battery terminals securely with a socket wrench:
improperly ixed terminals can be dangerous and generate heat, which can lead todangerous
situations and damage to your equipment and battery.

GUIDELINES foR USE

your battery has been designed for use in angling (trolling engine, depth sounder), recreation
(service battery for marine, caravan, rV) and as an electric boating power supply but is explicitly
NoT suitable to use as a starter battery for internal combustion engines (like in cars and out-
boards).
Use with an electric trolling engine
The battery can handle a continuous load of 50A (all models except the 12V140 AV) and 100A
(for the 12V140 AV). As the battery voltage remains nearly constant until the battery is almost
empty, you will notice that thrust remains high and constant. this will allow you to use your
trolling engine in a lower gear and this can signiicantly increase the runtime. As the capacity
indicator on your trolling engine is designed for lead batteries it is not reliable.
State of charge indicator
your battery features a digital state of charge indicator. the indicator is activated by pressing
the silver-colored power button. We recommend you leave it in the 'of' position when not using
the battery to prevent discharge of the battery through the state of charge indicator. the power
button is only for the display: the battery also works when the power button is switched of.
Discharging
Fully discharging your battery is not harmful. the battery is protected by an advanced inte-
grated BMS (battery management system). charge the battery as soon as possible after a full
discharge. Due to low self-discharge (~ 2% per month) voltage may drop below critical levels
and damage the battery irreversibly. When the battery is not in use, turn of the power button
to prevent the battery being discharged by the charge status indicator. If the battery is not used
for a longer period of time, we recommend charging to 50% for optimum service life.
charging
We recommend using a matching Rebelcell battery charger with a charging voltage of 12.6V.
If you use a diferent charger the warranty is void if damage occurs. Never use a battery charger
with a charge voltage >12.6V or with a diferent charging proile than CC/CV. These chargers
can damage your battery! you can top-up or partly charge your battery whenever you so desire,
there is no so called 'memory efect'. The batteries cannot be charged at temperatures of 0°C
and lower. It is possible to charge the battery with a solar panel. A suitable solar charge
controller is required, more information can be found on our website.
