This includes functions such as CUT or LOOP-XFADES. Though functions such as RESAMPLE or TIME-
CORRECTION, which compute a new sample, can be performed, the resulting new sample is stored in the
RAM, from where it must be transferred back into the FlashROM section.
As already mentioned, only the playback parameters of samples stored in the FlashROM are loaded
into the RAM, while the samples themselves remain stored there. To perform subsequent 'destructive' edits
on a sample you can load it back into the RAM, by using one of the two functions listed below:
LOAD (Load Sample to WaveRAM):
COPY (Copy Sample to WaveRAM):
If you wish to transfer a program or an effects file without samples to the RAM, you cannot choose from the
LOAD and COPY options, but have to use the LOAD function instead.
DAT backups from samples stored in the FlashROM
It is possible to create DAT backups from a FlashROM memory just as from a random-access memory.
Simply select the backup type: memory from the corresponding menu.
With the RESTORE function the data stored on a DAT cassette cannot be loaded directly into the
FlashROM area! Instead the data are transferred from the DAT recorder to the RAM, from where they can
then be sent to the FlashROM with the SAVE function. Please note that the data quantity produced while
creating backups from the RAM and FlashROM sections can well exceed the available RAM capacity, when
using the RESTORE routine! In this case, it depends on the RAM capacity of your AKAI sampler how many
programs and samples can be retransferred.
The backup function is available only when your sampler is equipped with the eight-channel analog
interface incorporating a digital interface. This interface is available from AKAI (IB-208P) or from MUTEC
(ADO Interface).
Finally, we would like to draw your attention to our warranty conditions (see page 17) and recommend
that you complete and return the registration card immediately. This is absolutly essential in case of any
warranty claims and will enable us to inform you promptly of our new products.
