MAINTENANCE

WARNING!
Turn the Master Key Switch (30) OFF and disconnect the battery before servicing.

CHARGING THE BATTERY

Charge the battery each time the machine is used for 2 hours or longer.
CAUTION!
Do not allow the battery to sit in a discharged condition. It will greatly reduce battery life.
WARNING!
Use extreme caution when working with batteries. Sulfuric acid in batteries can cause severe injury if allowed to contact the skin or
eyes. Explosive hydrogen gas is vented from inside the batteries through openings in the battery caps. This gas can be ignited by
any electrical arc, spark or flame.
When Servicing the Battery...
*
Remove all jewelry
*
Do not smoke
*
Wear safety glasses, rubber apron and rubber gloves
*
Work in a well-ventilated area
*
Do not allow tools to touch more than one battery terminal at a time
To Charge the Battery...
1
Open the Battery Compartment Cover (1). Leave the Battery Compartment Cover OPEN while charging the battery.
2
Check the water level in each cell to be sure the plates are covered before charging. Do not fill battery.
3
Push the connector from the charger into the connector from the machine's battery.
4
Follow the instructions on the battery charger. If the charger is an automatic charger, simply turn it on. If the charger has a manual timer, use the rule
of 2 hours of charge for every 1 hour of usage and set the timer accordingly. Over-charging can shorten battery life.
5
Check the fluid level in all battery cells after charging the batteries. Add distilled water, if necessary, to bring the fluid level up to the bottom of the filler
tubes.
CAUTION!
Acid can spill onto the floor if the batteries are overfilled. To avoid damage to floor surfaces, wipe water and acid from the top of the
batteries after charging.
BATTERY WATER LEVEL
Check the water level of the battery at least once a week.
After charging the battery, remove the vent caps and check the water level in each battery cell. Using distilled water, fill each cell to the level indicator (or to 1/
2 inch (1.27 cm) over the top of the plates). Do not over-fill the battery!
CAUTION!
Acid can spill onto the floor if the batteries are over-filled.
Tighten the vent caps. Wash the tops of the batteries with a solution of baking soda and water (2 tablespoons of baking soda to 1.13 liters of water).
