Setting the Recording
level
Setting the recording level correctly is very
important if you want to make good quality
recordings. It the level is excessively low or
high, therecordingwill be noisy or distorted.
Generally, the recording level should be
adjusted
so that the strongest signals to be
recorded make the meters indicate 0 VU or
so.
With
a little
time and practice you
wit!
be
able to adjust the critical recording lave!.
The type and condition of the tape, as well
as the type of music source you are record·
ing also affects the optimum settings of the
recording level.
Three-Head System
The three-head system means that you can
record on the tapa and monitor from it

the same time. With the three-head system,
you
can monitor
the source or
off-the-tape
signals while recording.
Erasing
Erasing
a
previously recorded tape will be
automatically done when you make a new
recording on
it
Alternatively it can be
eras.ecl by recording on it with MIC and
LINE
controls turned down to
MIN.
To urase a tape in a short time, TEAC's
optional E-2A bulk eraser may also be used.
Dubbing
Oeck-to-deck copying of tapes (dubbing)
can be done without using an external
amplitier. Operation is the same as standard
record and playback procedure as described
in the "Recording and Playback" section.
This deck can be used as the "master" re·
corder with a second recordar used as the
"slave" recorder. Connect the outpttt
or
the
deck to rhe input ot the slave recorder.
To use the deck and the second recorder in
opposite roles, simply reverse the input and
output connections.
Purwh·ln Recording
During playback, you can go from playback
mode to record mode by holding in the play
( l!o-)
button and pressing the RECORD
button simultaneously. The deck will start
recording from that location.
This allows you
to
record over or correct a
recorded section of the tape without stop-
ping the tape Hrst and then selecting record
mode.
