Clean the scan unit if documents do not feed smoothly or
easily, or if several documents feed at one time. The scan
unit parts may be contaminated with ink, toner particles or
paper coatings.

Turn off and disconnect the power to the scan unit.
Open the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) to its full
position.
Carefully pull out the jammed piece of paper.
Close the ADF.
Connect the power and turn the scan unit back on.
Wet a clean, lint-free cloth or cotton swab with isopropyl
alcohol (95%).
Open the ADF unit and wipe the upper feeding roller by
moving the swab from side to side.
Rotate the roller forward with your finger and repeat the
above cleaning procedures until the entire roller is
cleaned.
Wipe the pad from top to bottom. Be careful not to hook
the pick springs.
Close the ADF unit. Your scan unit is now ready for use.
