RANDOM CODE QUARTZ RADIO CONTROLS WITH UP TO 100 CHANNELS
Description
The S48D Radio control system consists of one or more transmitters and one or more
receivers which can be combined to meet the specific needs of the system.
The S48D uses the random numbers system to generate the secret code. This system
is base on the generation of a casual and secret code by the receiver (generated by a
random numbers counter) and the insertion of this code into the transmitter/s (by means
of a module which slots directly into the transmitter). The secret code is memorised
by the receiver and transferred into the transmitter using a non volatile EEPROM type
memory module. This encoding system has 7.000.000 possible combinations, and
allows a different code (for different receivers) to be programmed into each available
channel. The transmitter automatically switches off 15 seconds after the last command
has been given.
Use
The S48D radio control allows the remote activation of electrical and electronic appliances
with its best use in the following areas: automatic opening systems, alarm systems, and in
all systems which require remote control activation (without wires) using secret codes.

Antenna
The installation of the antenna is fundamental, connected to the receiver it represents
the reception point for the radio control. When installing the antenna the following points
should be observed:
- Only use a tuned antenna connected to the receiver using a coaxial cable RG58 (imped-
ance 50Ω) with a maximum length of 15 m;
- The antenna should be positioned out of doors in the highest possible point, visible and
away from metal structures.
Note: If for some particular reason it is not possible to fit an antenna, a reasonable per-
formance can be obtained by connecting a 2,5 m. piece of single pole conductor wire
(Ø1 mm.) to the receiver.
Warning! The receivers must only be powered by a safety power pack. The use of
non safety power packs could provoke damage to the system.
16-Channel receivers (see fig.8)
- The receiver is preset for the insertion of up to four expansion modules (4 relays per
card allowing combinations of 4-8-12 and 16 channels).
- It is fitted with a TX-LINK docking connection for the insertion of S48D radio controls, a
connection marked "M1" for the insertion of memory modules (see relative paragraph) and a
dip "D1" which controls the code generation and code to memory transfer functions.

The receiver master card is fitted with a connection marked "CON1" for the insertion
of channel modules and can be expanded using modular expansion boards (max.
3 cards) each one of which has 32 relays

It is fitted with a TX-LINK docking connection for the insertion of S48D radio controls, a
connection marked "M1" for the insertion of memory modules (see relative paragraph)
and a dip "D1" which controls the code generation and code to memory transfer
functions.

The selection of the blocks of relays situated on the expansion boards can be
regulated using the Jumper "J1".
Generating the user code in the radiocontrol system RX48 (fig. 8-9)
1) Switch on the power supply to the receiver
2) Move dip 1 of the dip-switch "D1" (fig.8-9) to the "ON" position (starts generating
random codes), after about 10 seconds move it back to the "OFF" position.
3) Move dip 2 of the dip-switch "D1" (fig.8-9) to the "ON" position (from this point the
secret code is already memorised in the code memory module of the receiver). Move
dip 2 to the "OFF" position.
4) Insert the transmitter into the TX-LINK docking connection on the receiver, select
the channel which is to be memorised and press the "INV" key (fig. 3). If the code
has been correctly learnt a led "LD" will light up on the receiver (fig.8-9) and the
transmitter buzzer will sound.
Using the 16 channel receivers (fig.6a - 6e):

Press the button with arrow pointing upwards (fig.6a) to start from the highest number
"16" and then scroll the numbers using the button with the arrow pointing downwards
(fig.6b) until the desired channel number appears on the display e.g. 10.

Press the button with arrow pointing downwards (fig.6b) to start from the lowest number
and then scroll the numbers using the button with the arrow pointing upwards (fig.6a)
until the desired channel number appears on the display.

To memorise a channel (e.g. 10) press the "mem" button (fig.6c). The memorised
channel can be recalled by pressing the "mem" button when the transmitter is off.

The S48D series conforms to the essential requirements of the directive 99/05/
CE and the technical reference standards have been applied. This product has
been tried and tested in the manufacturer's laboratory, during the installation
of the product follow the supplied indications carefully.

Press the "INV" button (fig.6d) to activate the relay which corresponds to the chosen
channel (the transmission is signalled by a symbol which appears on the right of the
display). If this button is pressed when the transmitter is off, the channel which was
last transmitted will be recalled.

The battery symbol (fig.6e) appears when the Tx battery is flat.
Using the 100 channel receivers (fig.7a - 7c):
-
Press a two digit number on the key board (fig.7c), (first the five and then the three
to make number 53 as shown in the example)

To memorise a channel (e.g. 53) press the "mem" button (fig.7a). The memorised
channel can be recalled by pressing the "mem" button when the transmitter is
off.

Press the "INV" button (fig.7b) to activate the relay which corresponds to the chosen
channel (the transmission is signalled by a symbol which appears on the right of the
display). Pressing this button or one of the buttons from 0 to 9 when the transmitter
is off will recall the channel which was last transmitted.

The battery symbol (fig.7c) appears when the Tx battery is flat.
Memory modules M1:
Code number 93C46 for RX16 channels - Code number 93C66 for RX100
channels
This is extractable, furnished with a non volatile EEPROM type memory and contains the
system code. The programmed code is maintained in this module even in the absence
of power, it is therefore possible to extract the module for maintenance purposes and
reposition it inside another receiver which will automatically use the same code.
Duplicating a memory module
1) Remove the original memory module and insert the new one.
2) Move dip 2 of the dip-switch from the "OFF" position to the "ON" position then
reposition it in "OFF" at this point the new module has been encoded with the same
code as the original. Switch the power to the receiver "OFF" and "ON" to ensure the
code has been memorised.
Channel functions for the S48 radio controls
Remember that the receiver can only respond to one signal at a time, it therefore follows
that several channels cannot be activated simultaneously.
Attention!
The 16-channel receiver is fitted with a jumper "J1" to allow it to be used with the 100-
channel transmitters for a maximum of three 16-channel receivers. The channel block
selection (jumper "J1" ) must be carried out before powering up the receiver:
• Jumper "J1" in position 1; the channel block from 1 to 16 is selected
• Jumper "J1" not inserted; the channel block from 17 to 32 is selected
• Jumper "J1" in position 2; the channel block from 33 to 48 is selected
Examples:
• Jumper "J1" in position 1; activating CH1 on a 100-channel transmitter will activate
relay CH1 on the 16-channel receiver;
• Jumper "J1" not inserted; activating CH17 on a 100-channel transmitter will activate
relay CH1 on the 16-channel receiver;
• Jumper "J1" in position 2; activating CH33 on a 100-channel transmitter will activaterelay
CH1 on the 16-channel receiver;
It is not possible to activate more than 48 channels (3 blocks of 16) using a 100-
channel transmitter
