THE MODES: START,
CLEAN, SMILE
start
clean
• The bottom LED is lit up: «start» mode stimulates
circulation in the gums, with 22,000 brush strokes
per minute.
• The middle LED is lit up: «clean» mode is ideal for
optimal removal of plaque and bacteria, with 32,000
brush strokes per minute.
• The top LED is lit up: «smile» mode allows you to clean
particularly sensitive teeth and gums, with 42,000
brush strokes per minute.
More information on the modes
So what is better, «clean» with 32,000 or «smile» with
42,000 brush strokes per minute? The latter is actually so
fast that the filaments cannot perform the entire brush
stroke. That is why it feels especially gentle, even though
there is more movement. And that is why this mode is
called «smile».
At 32,000 brush strokes per minute, the filaments can
perform the full brush stroke each time, which means
optimal cleaning; we call this mode «clean».
As an analogy, let's say your windscreen wipers move
across the screen 32,000 times per minute and in doing
so reach the edge of the windscreen, giving you an
optimal field of vision. If the windscreen wipers are set
to 42,000 times per minute, they simply no longer have
time to reach to the very edge of the windscreen.
In the «start» mode, you increase the circulation in your
gums. With 22,000 brush strokes per minute, the «start»
mode is also ideal for special care of the gumline with
the single brush head, see page 30. Furthermore,
this mode will help you get used to the slight tingling
caused by a sonic toothbrush.
• NOTE: Every mode delivers a very good clean. With the
exception of the «start» mode for promoting circulation
and acclimatisation, all modes are strong enough to
clean not just mechanically but also hydrodynamically.

CLEANING YOUR TEETH:
TIPS FROM PROF. SAXER
• While cleaning, hold the brush at a 45-degree angle
in such a way that it lies half on the gum, half on the
teeth. The ergonomic hexagonal grip enables cleaning
at this optimal 45-degree angle.
• Hold the brush gently against your teeth and gums.
Avoid any pressure.
• Clean from tooth to tooth: Stay on each for two to
three seconds at a 45-degree angle. Do not apply any
pressure at all.
• Tilting motion: Tilt the Hydrosonic Easy once or twice,
as if trying to insert the bristles between the teeth.
Do this very slowly and without applying pressure.
• Remain on each tooth for two to three seconds while
tilting the brush once or twice to thoroughly clean the
recesses between the teeth.
