Installation Instructions

Inspection
Upon receipt, inspect the merchandise and
notify the carrier and the insurance com-
pany, in writing, of any possible damage.
Environmental protection
Packing
Eliminate packing in accordance
with the regulations in force on
environmental conservation.
During installation and maintenance, keep
in mind that HFC-410A (see identification
plate) POE oil are used.
Warning signs
The signs on the unit indicate the existence
of potentially dangerous conditions. Their
meaning should be remembered and taken
into account.

This symbol indicates an electrical risk or
danger.

Attention: The unit is equipped with remote
control and can start up automatically. Two
minutes prior to having access to the interior,
disconnect the power supply so as to avoid
any contact with the fan turbine in motion.

Attention: It is obligatory to read the instruc-
tions prior to any handling.

Attention: Possible gas leak due to inad-
equate handling.
Safety
The installation and maintenance operations
of this air conditioning system should be
carried out by qualified and expert person-
nel only.
Periodical maintenance operations should
be carried, such as cleaning the coils and air
filters, to keep unit operation optimum.
Caution
This equipment should be installed
and used in accordance with:
- Low Voltage Electrotechnical Regula-
tions.
- Safety Regulations for Cooling Plants and
Installations.
- Regulations on Pressure Equipment.
- Basic Construction Standards.
- Technical Construction Standards.
- Local ordinances.
Transportation
The outdoor units should always be trans-
ported in a vertical position, so as to avoid
oil leakage from the compressor. If this posi-
tion has to be changed sporadically for any
reason, this should be done only for the time
strictly necessary.
Location
Final location should be selected previously
with permanent access for maintenance
servicing, either through the side panels or
the top cover.
Can be installed directly outdoors.
If installed indoors, in basements, attics, etc.,
the outdoor and extraction air intake ducts
should be connected.
When installing the unit, the electrical and
drain connections should be taken into ac-
count.
Securing the unit
To the ceiling (see Fig. 7)
The unit is secured to the ceiling by means
of M-10 bolts, as indicated in the drawing.
It is recommendable to install antivibratory
supports for this sort of assembly.
Upon securing, make sure the unit is com-
pletely horizontal, or very slightly sloped to-
wards the drain, so as to avoid possible drops
of condensed water (use a bubble level).
Attention: It is indispensable to use all fasten-
ing points of the unit.
The RTC07L, 10L, 15L, 20L and RTH07L,
10L, 15L, 20L units have 4 fastening
points.
The RTC25L, 30L and RTH25L, 30L units
have 6 fastening points.
It is of great importance to be very care-
ful with the support of the indoor unit from
the ceiling. Make sure the ceiling is strong
enough to withstand the weight of the unit.
Prior to hanging the unit, check each mount-
ing bolt.
Placing the unit on the floor
When locating the unit on the floor, if out-
doors, it should be placed on supports so
as to avoid possible accumulation of snow,
which would obstruct air intake.
Air ducts
1 - Connect the ducts, isolating them from
the apparatus by means of a flexible
hose, preferably of non-combustible
material, so as to avoid the transmission
of vibrations from the apparatus itself. If
the ducts are made of flexible material,
they will not transmit vibrations.
2 - If the air discharge of the outdoor coil
GB
is carried out through ducts, it is con-
venient that the first 1-metre section be
of galvanised sheeting so as to avoid
deterioration due to possible dripping.
Drain connections
Install the drain tubing of each tray through
a siphon.
The drain line should be sloped a minimum
of 2 cms. for each metre in length.
Attention: When the heat pump operates at
outdoor temperatures below 5º C, the drain
pipe could be obstructed due to ice. There-
fore, if installed outdoors, this possibility
should be taken into account, installing an
electric heater at the drain connection and
around the compressor supports, connect-
ing same electrically in accordance with the
diagrams supplied.
Wiring
Electrical connections
The established national regulations
should be followed in all cases.
Each unit is supplied with an electric panel
for connecting the power supply my means
of a fused main switch or an automatic
switch.
Within this electric panel, models 20L, 25L,
30L include a phase detector to make sure
the electrical sequence is R-S-T. Should
this not be the case, the electronic control
board will not be powered and the unit will
be inoperative. In this case, interchange
two of the main power supply input phases
of the machine.
The electric heater, if fitted, should be
installed with power supply and switches
independent of the air conditioning unit
power supply.
Rotational direction of the
compressors
The Scroll compressors and fans operate
correctly in one single rotational direction.
All motors are factory-wired for rotation in
the correct direction.
Configuration of the electronic
board
For start-up after the accessories are in-
stalled, connect power supply to the unit.
To have the electronic board respond in
accordance with the accessories installed,
press the "test" button a few seconds, until
the red LED goes out.
The "test" button should be pressed only
when the board is under electric current.
If pressed and held without any current at
the board, and then the power supply is
connected, the microprocessor will lose its
configuration and the board assembly will
have to be replaced.
