Feature description

The training device consists of a casing with a simulated functional part.
In contrast to the oxygen self-rescuer, the training device does not contain
chemically bound oxygen.
The dimensions and weight of the training device approximate those of the
oxygen self-rescuer. The functional part essentially corresponds to the structure
of the oxygen self-rescuer.
The breathing bag of the training device does not fill with oxygen. Instead,
the breathing takes place via the training heat exchanger.

Intended use

The training device is exclusively intended for training purposes. It is used to
practice the opening and donning of an oxygen self-rescuer as well as breathing
with an oxygen self-rescuer.
The training device is assigned to the following oxygen self-rescuers:
 Training device Dräger Oxy 3000/3000 MK II Trainer for Dräger Oxy 3000
and Dräger Oxy 3000 MK II
 Training device Dräger Oxy 6000/6000 MK II Trainer for Dräger Oxy 6000
and Dräger Oxy 6000 MK II
3 Use
3.1

Preparations before use

The support ring, carrying strap and casing protector are not included in the scope
of delivery of the training device. These can, however, be ordered and assembly in
addition so that the training device corresponds to the oxygen self-rescuer.
Assembly information can be found in the instructions for use for the oxygen
self-rescuer.
3.2

Donning procedure

Donning the device incorrectly may cause a delay when using the oxygen self-
rescuer in emergencies. The following exercises will improve your donning of the
oxygen self-rescuer which could save your life.
Be sure to perform the following steps in the described sequence.
1. Pull the opener up until the
tightening straps fall away.

The seal of the training device is elastic. It can be reused.
The seal for the oxygen self-rescuer breaks to show that the device was
opened.
2. Remove the upper part of the casing.

For the oxygen self-rescuer, opening can be supported as follows:
Use the fully opened opener to lever the lid open.
Or
Bend the casing at the face seal. To do this, place the device flat on the floor.
Press on the edge of the upper and lower parts of the casing.
3. Grasp the yellow loop of the
neck strap and use it to pull the
device out of the casing.
CAUTION
Do not pull the device out of the casing by the breathing hose. This could
damage the device.
If the oxygen self-rescuer is pulled out of the casing by the breathing hose,
it could be damaged and be unable to supply sufficient breathing air.
4. Hold the device so that the
breathing bag points away from
the body.
5. If necessary, remove the helmet.
6. Place the neck strap around your
neck.
7. If necessary, put the helmet on.

Perform the next steps for donning quickly.
8. Bring the mouthpiece up to your face.
In doing so, the mouthpiece cap is removed from the mouthpiece.
The starter pin is pulled out of the device.
9. Place the mouthpiece in your mouth.
Ensure that the breathing hose does not get twisted.
The rubber piece should sit between the teeth and the lips.

10. Cover the mouthpiece tightly with your lips.
11. Pull the nose clip apart and place it over the nostrils.
The nose must be closed tightly.

With the oxygen self-rescuer, the oxygen from the starter flows into the
breathing bag within 1 to 2 minutes. However, the breathing bag does not fill
completely. If necessary, use your hands to help unfold the breathing bag. If the
breathing bag does not fill, breathe out powerfully two or three times to fill the
breathing bag.
