User manual Revolution R2 Scaf
back extender fall arrest harness
This manual contains additional instructions with the
use of the Revolution R2 Scaf fall arrest harness with a
back extender (resistance tested for tearing on a sharp
edge) by Miller® by Sperian and consists of an addition
to the user manual of fall arrest harnesses as per EN
361 and of the user manual for the fall arrest harness
«Miller R2 Revo Const 2pts Conlon DuraFlex». It is es-
sential to read the instructions attached to the product
and comply with them in full.
Function:
This fall arrest harness has
a fixed back extender 0.4 m
long (1) which, like the chest
and back rings, design are
more particularly used for
attaching energy absorbing
lanyards (see figure 1).
Use of back extender:
You can attach a lanyard to
a back ring (2) or to a 40 cm
long back extender (1). Note
that for the use of a lanyard
with an energy absorber
and a fall arrest harness back
extender, the overall length
must not exceed 2 m.
It is possible to waive this
rule for some specific scaf-
fold assembly applications.
On this subject, read the
user manual with care: «Fall arrest system for scaf-
folding work according to EN 363, type Revolution
R2 Scaf Manyard edge or type AGU30 VB Manyard
edge»
If necessary, we can supply you with a copy of this
manual. In case of any inaccuracies, please consult the
manufacturer.
For the use of follower fall arrest devices induding a
mobile guide, do not connect the latter to the back ex-
tender (1), but rather to the back ring (2). In addition,
always comply with the instructions given in the user
manual of these devices.
For the use of automatic retraction fall arrest devices,
the latter can be connected to the back extender if
there is no restriction indicated in the user manual of
the device in question.

Back extender with strength tested for tearing on
sharp edge:
The resistance of the bad( ex-
tender on this fall arrest harness
to tearing on a sharp edge has
been tested. This Miller® by Spe-
rian logo confirms accreditation
for all horizontal applications
with a edge radius of at least
0.5 mm without buns, bearing
in mind that the edge angle must be at least 90° (see
figure 2). This type of edge is typical of rolled steel pro-
files, wooden beams or edges with rounded facing on
2
terrace roofs.
90°

to or greater than 93° = use
permitted
If risk analysis to be carried out before work begins
reveals that the fall edge is a «particularly sharp edge
and (4) is not free of burrs» (for instance: edge of ter-
race roof without faring, sheet metal siding or sharp
edge of concrete), or that the angle is smaller than 90°
(see figure 3), you must
- take the necessary precautions before work
begins to prevent falling over the sharp edge in
question,
- install edge protection,
- contact the manufacturer.
