START-UP INSTRUCTIONS
IMPORTANT !
Machine commissioning or the first start up (wh ere
provided for) must be car ried out b y skilled
personnel from workshops authorised b y
S.p.A., qualified to wor k on this t yp e of product.
IMPORTANT !
The use and maintenance m anual for the pump s is
enclosed with this manual and mu st be r ead
completely.
DANGER !
Before starting up, m ake sur e that the in stallation
and electrical connections conform with the
instructions in the wiring diagram . Also make sure
that there ar e no unauthorised per sons in the
vicinit y of the machine dur ing the above oper ations.

The units are tested in the fac tor y, where they are also c alibrated and
the default par ameter s ettings are put in. These guarantee that the
appliances r un c orrectly in rated wor king conditions . The machi ne
configuration is carried out in the factor y and should never be altered.
IMPORTANT !
If a unit is used for the production of chilled water,
check the adjustment of the thermostatic valve.
II.7.2
UNIT S TART-UP
IMPORTANT !
Several hours befor e starting (at least 12), switch
on the power to the unit in ord er to po wer the
electrical heaters to heat up the compressor
crankcase. Each tim e the unit starts up the
crankcase h eater swit ches off automatically.
Befor e starti ng the unit, perfor m the following chec ks :
○ The el ectricity power suppl y must c ompl y with the specifications on
the data plate and/or the wiring diagram and it must fall within the
followi ng limits:
• Variation of the power suppl y frequenc y: ±2 Hz.
• variation of the power suppl y voltage: ±10% of the nominal voltage;
• imbal ance between the suppl y phas es: <2% .
○ the electrical power s uppl y s ys tem must be able to suppl y adequate
current and be suitabl y sized to handle the load;
○ open the electric panel and make s ure the terminals of the power
suppl y and of the c ontactors are tight (they may have come l oose
during trans port, which c ould lead to malfunctions);
○ chec k that the water s ystem i nlet and outlet pipes ar e connected in
accordance with the arrows next to the mac hine water inlet/outl et;
○ chec k that the air-side heat exchanger is clean and that the airways
are clear.

Standard setting
Electrical connec tions must be made in compliance with the l ocal
installation standards i n force in the plac e where the unit is i nstalled,
and with the i nstructions in the wiring diagram provided with the unit.
For the sizing of the s uppl y cables, r efer to what is s et out i n the wiring
diagram.
IMPORTANT !
On three-phase models, b efore conn ecting the m ain
power supply cables L1-L2-L3+N to the termin als of
the general isolator, m ake sur e that they ar e in the
right order.
The mac hine c an be started by pressing the ON/OFF key on the
keyboard built into the machine. Using the MODE key, s elect an
operating mode (chiller or heat-pump). Any probl ems the s ystem
encounters will be i mmediatel y s hown on the dis play on the control
keyboard. At start-up, the first device to s tart in the s ystem is the pump,
which has priority over the rest of the s ystem. During this phase, the
minimum water flow differential pr essure s witc h and the low pr essure
switch are ignored for a preset time, i n order to avoid variations c aus ed
by air bubbles or turbulenc e in the water circuit or by press ure
fluctuations in the c ooling circuit. Onc e these time-delays are over, final
enablement is given to the machine, followed after another safety ti me-
lag by the compr essor.
II.7.3
DECOMMISSIONING THE UNIT
IMPORTANT !
Failure to u se the unit during the winter p eriod m ay
12°C
cause the water contained in the system to freez e.

When the machine is out of use for long periods of time, it is nec essar y
2°C
to disc onnect it from the mains by opening the mains s witch.
3°C
All the water c ontained in the circuit must be drai ned in good ti me.
2°C
During installation, consider mi xing the water in the circuit with the

II.7.4
STARTING UP AGAIN AFTER LONG PERIODS
OF INACTIVI TY
Befor e starti ng up again, make s ure that:
• there is no air in the water s ystem (bleed it if necess ary);
• water in the heat exchanger is circulati ng in the required amount.
II.8
NATURE AND FREQUENCY OF SCHEDULED
INSPECTIONS
DANGER !
Maintenance operation s, even if for inspection
purposes only, mu st be carried out b y skilled
technicians, qu alified for working on air
conditioning and refrig erant products.
DANGER !
Always use the m ains switch to isolat e the unit
from the mains before carr ying out an y
maintenance wor k on the unit, even if it is for
inspection purposes only. Make sure that no one
accidentally supplies po wer to the mach ine, lock
the mains swit ch in the OFF po sition.
In order to guarantee that the unit runs regularly and efficientl y, it is
necess ary to schedul e an overall inspection at regular inter vals to
prevent malfunctions which could damage the main mac hine
components.
EVERY 6 MONTHS
• Chec k the gas c harge.
• Chec k that there are no gas leaks.
• Chec k the power c ons umption of the unit.
• Chec k the func tioning of the differenti al water pressure switc h.
• Bleed any air from the water s ystem.
• Chec k the c ontactors on the el ectric panel.
END OF SEASON with unit swit ched off:
• Drain the water sys tem.
• Inspect and, if necess ary, tighten the electrical contacts and terminals
