Assembly
Read the operator's manual carefully to ensure that you assemble the product correctly.
 Using a product that has been incorrectly assembled could lead to an accident or serious injury.
Connect the powerhead/outer tube to the gearcase
1. Outer tube
2. Index hole
3. Drive shaft
4. Clamp screw
5. Index screw
6. Tube clamp
7. Gearcase/cutter assembly
8. Protective cover
Connect the handle to the outer tube
1. Handle
2. Bolt
3. Outer tube
4. Arrow

Before you start

WARNING
1. Place the Powerhead/Outer tube assembly on a clean, flat
surface, spark plug facing up.
2. Slip off the protective cover from the end of the outer tube.
3. Use the L-wrench to loosen the tube clamp and index screw.
 Ensure that the fuel tank cap is securely in place.
 Failure to do so could lead to an injury or serious accident,
or cause a fire.
4. Slide the outer tube into the tube clamp until the tube bot-
toms. If installation is difficult, rotate the outer tube or drive
shaft slightly until you feel the drive shaft engage with the
gearcase.
5. Position the outer tube so that the index hole on the outer
tube is aligned with the index screw on the gearcase tube
clamp.
6. Using finger pressure only, thread the index screw into the
index hole located on the outer tube until it bottoms out.
7. Tighten the index screw and the clamp screw firmly.
 Do not force the shaft tube into the gearcase.
 Excessive force can damage the shaft tube and drive shaft.
NOTE
It may be necessary to twist the outer tube slightly for the index
screw to be inserted fully.
 Install the handle so that it does not hide any of the
safety decals.
Your hedge trimmer comes with the handle installed. It can be
re-adjusted for operator comfort in the following manner.
1. Loosen the bolt.
2. Rotate/slide handle assembly to best position for operator
comfort.
3. Tighten the bolt.
IMPORTANT
Make sure the arrow on the handle points towards gear case.
