Chrono RC-A
Additional information
Chrono RC-A is a semi-active 3-way floorstanding speaker. One important aspect is the integrated
bass amplifier responsible for driving its dual woofer systems. Through the use of Canton's spe-
cially-developed „SC technology", Chrono RC-A speakers deliver exceptional sound reproduction
quality. Its „RC technology" allows for optimum adaptation to the acoustics of the room and
your own personal listening preferences. At the same time, the Chrono RC-A semi-active system
means a definite reduction in your amplifier's workload in the energy-consuming bass area, thus
ensuring that it has plenty in reserve for the sensitive mid and high ranges.
RC-Technology
The purpose of the RC Technology is A) the compensation of individual room influences, and B)
the adjustment of the speaker to the personal taste (listening habits) of the audience. For this pur-
pose, the Chrono RC-A provides three different setting options:
a) Tweeter-Level: This switch can be used to increase or decrease the tweeter level by +1.5dB,
resp. by -1.5dB or -3.0dB. The circuit directly controls the tweeter crossover network and does not
cause any phase shift, as usual for conventional equalizers.
b) Bass-Level: The bass level can be set from -4dB up to +4dB, in steps of 1dB.
c) Bass-Filter (3): The RC-A Module provides three different high pass filter settings. Depending
on the listening room, an extended resp. reduced bandwidth may be selected.
Automatic on/standby switch
If power switch (9) of Chrono RC-A is set to "ON", it can be choosen via "Amplifier Mode" (4)
between two operating modes.
If the "Amplifier Mode" (4) switch is in the "ON" position the speaker stays permanently on.
If the switch of "Amplifier Mode" (4) is set to "AUTO" the speaker turns on automatically when
there is a music signal and turns off after about 20 minutes when there is no music signal. The
power consumption in standby mode is below 0.5 watts.
LFE-Input
For multi-channel use, the Ergo RC-A speakers have a so-called LFE (low frequency effect) input.
(6) Combined with the LFE output of your surround receiver, designed for active subwoofers, the
Ergo RC-A speakers constitute a real 2.1 system without the need for additional subwoofers.
