NOTE!
If the storage period or non-use period of 5 years is
exceeded, the ball bearings and radial shaft seals must be
replaced and regreased before recommissioning.

• Make sure all pipes and hoses are properly installed.
• Make sure the operating conditions match those on the rating
plate.
• Make sure all touch protection measures have been mounted.
• Make sure that all provided covers, guards, hoods etc. are
mounted.
• Make sure that protective devices will not be disabled.
• Make sure that cooling air inlets and outlets are not covered or
obstructed and that the cooling air flow is not affected adversely
in any other way.
• Make sure that the "Installation Prerequisites" are complied with
and will remain complied with, particularly that a sufficient.
• Check the direction of rotation of the side channel blower as de-
scribed in "Electrical connection".
• Check the direction of rotation of the external fan as described in
"Installation of external fan".
• The functionality of the sensors (e.g. PTC thermistor, bimetal
switch) must be checked.

If applicable, open shutoff devices.
If applicable, switch on the power supply of the external fan.
Switch on the power supply of the side channel blower.

Switch off the power supply of the side channel blower.
If applicable, switch off the power supply of the external fan.
If applicable, close shutoff devices.

As soon as the side channel blower is operated under normal
operating conditions:
• Measure the drive motor current (intake current at series ASV)
and record it as reference for future maintenance and trouble-
shooting work.

Operation notes (use)

WARNING!
The side channel blower is designed for operation under the
conditions described in chapter "Intended Use".
In case of disregard risk of damage or destruction of the side
channel blower and adjoining plant components!
Risk of injury!
CAUTION!
Depending on the construction size the side channel blower
may emit noise of high intensity.
Depending on the operating state the side channel blower may
emit noise in a narrow band.
Risk of damage to the hearing.
Persons staying in the vicinity of a non-noise insulated side
channel blower over extended periods shall wear ear protec-
tion.
During operation the surface of the side channel blower may
reach temperatures of more than 70°C.
Risk of burns!
The side channel blower shall be protected against contact
during operation, it shall cool down prior to a required contact
or heat protection gloves shall be worn.
Before working on electrotechnical components and parts, the
devices must be de-energised and protected against restarting.
This work may only be carried out by adequately trained specialist
personnel.
If unexpected vibrations occur on the device or if the device is
exposed to vibration loads from the outside, the machine must be
switched off immediately and the cause of the vibration must be
eliminated before restarting.
