INSTALLATION
3
CAUTION : For personal safety reasons and preservation of warranty,
it is strictly forbidden to open the charger; Mains power must only
be supplied to the charger after connection to the battery to avoid
risk of electric shock.
3.1
MOUNTING OPTIONS
The charger may be fitted on a horizontal or vertical position however the
wires must be orientated to the bottom when mounted vertically.
Because of risk of water introduction when used in a marine environment,
we recommend fitting vertically. A free space of 10cm (4'') all around
the charger must be kept for unobstructed airflow. Take care to provide
a fresh air inlet at the bottom and hot air outlet at the top if mounted in
a confined compartment or room.

BATTERY CONNECTION
Depending on your model, 1 or 2 independent battery outputs are available.
- fit the red wire(s) on the positive (+) battery terminal(s)
- fit the black wire on the negative (-) battery terminal; for a 2
outlets model, the negative wire is common for the 2 batteries.
Caution : You must securely fasten the battery charging cables to the
battery terminals. In the event of poor connection, this may result in
overheating and is a potential fire hazard. Annually check your connections
for tightness and that no corrosion is evident.
TECSUP will not support the consequences of poor installation.
12 and 24 Volt models are pre-wired with 1.80m of 2.5 mm2 cables, fitted
with flat crimp terminals of 8mm diameter. Each charger is pre-set at the
factory to supply the nominal voltage at the end of the wires (this means
at the battery terminals). If you cut or extend the original length of the
wires, the delivered voltages could be slightly different.
3.3
SELECTION OF CHARGING CURVES
Battery manufacturers recommend different charging curves, depending
on the type and technology of the battery. If you do not set the right
curve, this means:
- your battery could be under-charged, in which case the whole
capacity will not be fully available.
- or worst, over-charged, the battery will produce dangerous gasses
and may risk exploding.
In both of the above cases, the life of your battery will be significantly reduced
and might avoid the battery manufacturers' warranty.
