Installation
Place of installation
• In a dry room
• Mounting choices:
− In a compact station
− In a control panel (in the front, on the inner wall, on a wall
mounting rail)
On a control panel front

In the sloping front of a control desk

• Permissible ambient temperature: 0...50 °C
• The unit must be easily accessible for service work

Electrical installation

• The local regulations for electrical installations must be com-
plied with
• The isolation of the M-bus central unit from the AC 230 V
mains network must be ensured by a labeled and easily ac-
cessible fuse having a release current of 10 / 16 A
• Permissible cable lengths:
− M-bus cables: max.100 m
RS-232: max. 15 m

Mounting
The M-bus central unit can be mounted in any position. The
following mounting choices exist:
Wall mounting
1. Hold unit against the wall and mark fixing holes on the wall.
2. Drill holes.
3. Screw unit to the wall.
Notes on wall mounting:
For wall mounting with screws, there are four drilling holes avail-
able. The base has raised mounting surfaces.
Screws: max. dia. 3.5 mm; for drilling template, refer to «Dimen-
sions».
Mounting on a wall mounting rail
1. Fit rail.
2. Fit unit to the rail.
3. Secure the unit (depending on the type of rail used).
Notes on rail mounting:
The base has a snap-on facility for mounting on wall mount-
ing rails (type EN 50 022-35 x 7.5) and can be disengaged
with the help of a screwdriver.

Wiring
1. Wire up the connection terminals:
Top: low voltage
Bottom: mains voltage

minals N and L (AC 230 V) is mandatory!
3. The cables must be secured to the base of the unit with the
help of cable ties.
Terminal covers
• If there is no protection against electric shock
hazard (e.g. in boiler rooms, false ceilings or
floors): always use terminal covers
• Only single-insulated cables connected to termi-
nals N and L (AC 230 V) must be provided with
insulating sheath:
• If protection against electric shock hazard is
ensured (e.g. in cabinets or control panels):
mounting without terminal covers permitted
• The terminal cover on the mains voltage side
must be secured with the two cable ties supplied
with the unit:
