2. Option(s) enabled, Expression(s) defined
In this case existing Clients and their user group affiliations are irrelevant. Only
the Expression(s) defined will be applied. The following Expressions are available:
• "*" - wildcard character for any number of characters
• "?" - wildcard character for any single character
• "#" - wildcard character for numeric characters
• "|" - or
Examples
• The Join Computer option has the Expression, "lab_
biology_*". All computer names beginning with "lab_
biology_" will be included (e.g. "lab_biology_peggy" or
"lab_biology_david" or "lab_biology_46a", etc.).
• The Join IP option has the Expression, "192.1.68.#". The
following 10 IP numbers will be included: "192.168.1.0" to
"192.168.1.9".
• The Join IP option has the Expression, "192.168.1.()) |
(192.*.2.12)". All IP numbers that begin with "192.168.1." and
end with a two-digit final number, or all 255 IP numbers
from "192.0.2.12" through "192.255.2.12" will be included.
• The Join User option has the Expression, "d???". All
user names that begin with "d" and are followed by three
additional letters, e.g. "dani", will be included.
Tip: Make sure you only activate the option(s) you really
need. If, for example, you create an Expression for a
computer name search but still have the computer ID search
enabled, the latter would have to have the Expression,
"*". It would, of course, be much easier to just disable the
"computer ID" search.
