Important:
Please read the operating instructions carefully before using the device and keep these in a safe place for later use.
Measurement basis:
The detector is used to detect concealed electric leads, metal and wood in walls, ceilings or floors. The detector is designed for indoor use.
It can detect live electric leads to a max. depth of 38 mm as well as wood and metal at a max. depth of 19 mm. The nature of the building
material used can affect the max. deteciton depth.
Changing the battery:
The battery needs to be changed when the red and yellow LED start blinking. To change the battery, open the battery
compartment (C) on the rear side of the device. Spent batteries must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Measurement:
1. Calibration:
The device must be calibrated to the nature of the wall before it can detect electric leads.
·
Hold the device flat against the wall
·
For calibration, press the On/Off button (A) for several seconds. At the end of the calibration you will hear
a signal tone. Keep the On/Off button pressed for the duration of the entire measurement. If the button is
released in the meantime, the calibration needs to be started again. The Calibration has now been completed.
Never remove the device from the wall.
2. Detecting wood and metal:
Perform the calibration as described in Section 1.
·
Move the device horizontally along the wall in the direction where you suspect the material.
·
When you reach the edge of the material in the wall the red and yellow LED display (E) will be lit continuously
and you will hear an audible signal.
·
Mark this point with the positioning aid (F).
·
Continue to move the device in the same direction until the red and yellow LED display (E) and the audible
signal go out.
·
Move the device in the opposite directionuntil the red and yellow LED display (E) is continuously illuminated
again and an audible signal is heard.
·
Mark this point with the positioning aid (F). The middle point between the two markings is the centre of
the wood or metal in the wall.
3. Detecting live electric leads:
Perform the calibration as described in Section 1.
·
Move the device horizontally along the wall in the direction where you suspect the cable.
·
When you reach the cable in the wall the red and yellow LED display and in addition the red LED display for live wires (D) will
light up and an audible signal will be heard. Stop the movement immediately.
·
Mark this point with the positioning aid (F).
·
Continue to move the device in the same direction until the red and yellow LED display and the red LED display for live wires (D)
go out and the audible signal is no longer heard. Move the device in the opposite direction until the red and yellow LED display
and the red LED display for live wires (D) light up and an audible signal is heard. Stop the movement immediately.
·
Mark this point with the positioning aid (F). The middle point between the two markings shows the position of the electric lead.
Important instructions:
·
The device cannot detect live wires in metal tubes, conduit for electrical wiring or behind metallic wall panelling.
·
The device can detect live wires in a range from 110 - 230V with an a.c. voltage of 50/60 Hz.
·
The current must be switched on in this area to detect electric leads. Once the cable has been located swich the current
off before continuing your work.
·
The device cannot work on wet surfaces. If you have just wallpapered a wall, for example, wait until the wall is fully dry
for best measurement results.
Technical data:
·
Power supply: 1 x 9V battery
·
Detection depth for electric leads:
max. 38 mm
·
Detection depth for wood and metal:
max. 19 mm
·
Detection depth for metal: max. 19 mm
Warning!
Electrical devices should never be
discarded with household garbage. Please
bring these to the appropriate collection
centre..
