MATERIALS SUITABLE FOR MICROWAVE OVENS
Ceramic
Follow manufacturer's instructions. Bottoms of ceramic containers
must be at least 5 mm above the turntable. Improper use can make
the ceramic container crack.
Utensils
Only use microwave-safe utensils. Follow manufacturer's instruc
tions. Do not use cracked utensils.
Glass bowls,
Always remove the cap. Use only to heat food until it is just warm
glass bottles
enough. Many glass bowls/bottles are not heat resistant and can
crack.
Roasting bags
Follow manufacturer's instructions. Do not seal roasting bags with
metal clips. Steam must be able to escape.
Paper plates
Only use these for brief heating. Do not leave the microwave oven
and cups
unattended.
Paper napkins
Use paper napkins or paper towels to cover food or place underneath
food to absorb grease. Use for brief heating and keep an eye on the
cooking process.
Parchment paper Use as a cover to avoid splashing and steam.
Plastic
Only use microwave-safe plastic. Follow manufacturer's instructions.
The plastic should be marked "Microwave safe". Some plastic contai-
ners become soft when food is heated. Sealed plastic containers must
have a hole where steam can escape.
Plastic bags
Only use plastic bags intended for microwave ovens. Use plastic bags
to cover food to trap moisture. Do not let the plastic bag touch the
food.
Wax paper
Cover food with wax paper to avoid splashing and to trap moisture.

May cause sparks. Place food on a microwave-safe plate.
Packaging with
May cause sparks. Place food in a microwave-safe container.
