Safety Notes

• This decoder may not be connected to an analog
locomotive controller.
• This decoder is sealed in a plastic housing to be
weatherproof. Despite this, avoid direct moisture since
this can corrode the external contacts and cause short
circuits.
• Connection work on the 55525 decoder may only be
done when there is no voltage present.

Functions

• The 55525 decoder is designed for use on digital model
railroads with the mfx or DCC digital systems.
• This decoder can be operated with mfx, MZS, and/or
DCC. With MZS however only decoders up to address
128 can be controlled.
• Control with a control box on a conventionally operated
layout is not possible.
• Maximum load per output 1,500 milliamps
• Total maximum load 3 amps

Installation

This decoder may be operated only with 14 - 24 volts. To
do this the decoder is connected to the track and draws
its voltage from the operating current for locomotives.

DCC Operation

The addresses 1 to 2044 are available. Each turnout deco-
der occupies a block of 4 addresses. The number of the
address block to be used is entered in CV 1, example: 1 for
the addresses 1 to 4 or 8 for the addresses 29 to 32. The
addresses 1 to 256 can be occupied in this manner.
CV 9 must be programmed to a value of 1 for the addres-
ses 257 to 512. The address block 257 to 260 has the value
of 1 for CV 1 again.
Examples of Address Blocks:
CV 1 = 5, CV 9 = 0 -> fifth block in the first range:
Addresses 17 - 20
CV 1 = 2, CV 9 = 1 -> second block in the second range:
Addresses 261 - 265
Additional functions can be set with programming on the
55525 turnout decoder. In addition to general settings for
the decoder, it is also possible to do different settings at
the individual decoder outputs (example: blinking light,
etc.). See the separate tables on Page 11 for the possible
circuit functions in this regard.
