Wiring the reCeiver
The ESC uses the motor battery to supply power to the receiver through the servo wires. There is no need for
a separate receiver battery.
• R efer to your radio system's instructions for proper connection. Typically, channel 2 is used to control the
throttle.
• T here are 3 wires involved in the universal receiver connector. It is directly compatible with Spektrum, JR,
Futaba
®
and Hi-Tec
radio systems.
• O lder Airtronics
or KO PROPO
radio systems must use a modified wiring order. The positive (red) and
®
®
negative (brown) wires must be reversed to operate with these radio systems. To remove the wires from the
connector, use a small jeweler's screwdriver to pry up the plastic tab associated with each wire. Gently slide
the brown wire out of the connector. Repeat on the red wire and replace in the opposite positions.
• I nstall the connector referencing the wire colors on the steering servo for proper polarity.
ConneCting the Motor
Connect the 3 ESC output wires to the motor input wires. If the motor turns in the wrong direction, reverse the
connection of any 2 motor wires.
notiCe: Always disconnect the battery from ESC when you have finished operating your vehicle. The ESC
switch only controls power to the receiver and servos. The ESC will continue to draw current when
connected to the battery, resulting in possible damage to the battery through over-discharge.
ConneCting the Battery
The ESC comes pre-wired with an EC3 connector and is compatible with most battery packs. Only use 6- to
9-cell (7.2V–10.8V) Ni-MH and 2S–3S (7.4V–11.1V) Li-Po batteries
