3.5 Assembling the stove - fig. 2-6
N.B. Check that the fireplace is free of any damage prior to
commencing installation.
The product is heavy! Make sure you have assistance when
erecting and installing the fireplace.
The product is delivered in a single packing case where the legs,
heat shield and door knob must be assembled.
1. Remove the cooking plate and all the separate parts inside
the stove. (Fig. 2)
2. Place the cardboard packaging on the floor and lay the stove
carefully down on its side. (Fig. 3)
3. If it is necessary to protect the walls, use the enclosed heat
shield. Use the bracket to connect the side heat shield to the
base heat shield. Fasten the bracket in the center of the base
plate with a screw. (Fig. 4)
4. Guide the flaps on the top of the side heat shield into the
groove under the top plate.
5. The flue outlet (fig. 5A) and the blanking plate (fig. 5B)
exchange positions if the smoke outlet on top of the stove is
preferred. The two screws on the flue outlet may be somewhat
difficult to release. Hold on to the nut on the inside with a
small wrench of the flue outlet to release the screws on the
outside. Ensure all possible unused flue outlets are suitably
blanked off.
6. Place the flue pipe's end outside the product's smoke outlet.
Fill any gaps between the flue pipe and smoke outlet with
suitable gasket.
7. Connect the knob (fig. 6C) to the door latch with the screw
and nut provided.
8. Place the stove into its final position and guide the flue pipe
onto the stove's chimney collar and attach it.
9. Follow the installation instructions given by the supplier of
the chimney.
3.6 Control of functions (fig. 6)
When the product is set up, always check the control functions.
These shall move easily and function satisfactorily.
Jøtul F 602 is equipped with the following controls:
Air vent, fig. 6D

closed
Right position:
open
3.7 Ash removal
Use a scoop or similar to remove the ash through the door.
Always leave some ash as a protective layer on the bottom
of the fireplace.
Ash must be placed in a metal container with a sealed lid.

4.0 Service
Warning! Any unauthorised change to the product is illegal.
Only use original spare parts.
4.1 Changing the air chamber (Fig. 7)
1. Remove both the right and the left burn plate (fig. 8) as well as
the the insulating sheets situated at the rear of the plates.
2. The steelplate situated underneath the baffle plate
(fig. 7) is called the air chamber. This is assembled with the
aid of 12 screws. Remove these screws.
3. Gently knock on the air chamber with a hammer to loosen
the cement. Remove the air chamber through the door.
4. Remove all the old cement remaining in the groove. Apply
new cement.
5. Assemble the new air chamber with the aid of new screws.
6. In case of damage, replace the insulating sheets with new
ones. Reassemble the plates.
4.2 Changing the baffle plate with the
air chamber
1. Remove both the right and the left burnplate as well as the
insulating sheets situated at the rear of the plates.
2. Unscrew only the two screws underneath the rear of the
plates. Use a wrench. Gently loosen the baffle plate with a
hammer.
3. Remove the cooking plate. Unscrew the top plate's 4 screws
from underneath. The top has been cemented and may be
stuck. Knock gently to loosen.
4. Lift the baffle plate through the top of the stove.
5. Rinse the old cement out from the groove. Apply new
cement.
6. Removing the top plate may somewhat cause both the
front- and the rear plate, as well as the side plates, to loosen.
Disconnect the plates, clean the grooves and apply new
cement before all the plates are being replaced.
7. Assemble the new baffle plate including the air chamber.
8. Reassemble the top plate.
9. In case of any damage, replace the insulating sheets situated
at the rear of the burnplates with new ones. Reassemble the
plates.
4.3 Changing the burn plates/base
plate (Fig. 8)
1. The burnplates and the base plate are loosely assembled.
To remove the burnplates tilt the side burnplates from the
bottom and pull it out through the door.
2. Tilt one of the base plate's two parts in an upward manner
at the front edge. Lift it up and pull it out through the door.
3. To replace the defected parts, repeat the same procedure in
reverse order.
4. If the part should get stuck, use a large screwdriver or similar
to flip them loose. Ensure that all the insulating sheets are
undamaged before you reassemble the parts. It may also
become necessary to replace some of the screws and nuts.
5.0 Optional equipment
The product has no optional equipment.
