4.3 Service

Regular maintenance
VARIAIR CONVERTERS are generally maintenance-free. Neverthe-
less it should be regularly checked whether
· a sufficient ventilation is guaranteed for the converter (radial and
axial air outlets at the motor ventilation)
· the cables in the PG screws are properly guided and held.
Repairs
The user must not repair the installation himself. In case of an error
the installation is to be replaced and to be passed to the responsible
Service department.
The VARIAIR CONVERTER connected to the power
supply carries dangerous voltage. The converter may only
be replaced by qualified staff.
When opening the terminal box the power supply must
be shut off. The terminals for the collective error message
(SSM) and the collective operating message (SBM) can
carry dangerous external voltages.
Before disconnecting the electrical connections it must be made sure
that they are without voltage.
Disregard for these rules can cause grave or fatal injuries.
After disconnecting the supply and control cables and removing the
cables from the PG screws the VARIAIR CONVERTER can be separa-
ted from the motor by releasing the 3 hexagon socket screws.
It must be kept in mind that the motor connecting line can
carry dangerous voltages due to the discharging time of
the intermediate circuit capacities.
The converter may only be separated from the motor 5
minutes after shutting off the three-phase network.
By slightly lifting the converter from the motor the five-pin plug is
accessible and can be disconnected without using tools.
