First check to see whether the boiler is full of water.
temperature selection knob
The selection knob can be used to set the
temperature. The maximum temperature setting is
80 °C. The 50 °C setting is suitable when using the
boiler with a wash-basin.
We advise a temperature setting of 65 °C. This is
the "eco" setting. Energy consumption is relatively
favourable at this setting, while the water is still hot
enough. Moreover, very little boiler scale will form
at this setting.
You cannot turn off the boiler using the temperature
selection knob. Turn off the boiler by disconnecting
the plug from the wall socket.

1. Set the temperature selection knob to setting 1.
2. Remove the selection knob handle and holder
from the housing. Draw the holder towards you
and remove the handle from the holder.
3. Place the handle in the desired position (50, 65
or 80 °C) back in the holder.
4. Reinsert the selection knob (handle and holder)
in the boiler housing.
safeguarding against freezing
The boiler is safeguarded against freezing. The
boiler will not freeze at setting 1 if it is connected to
the mains. The heating element will be switched on
if the surrounding temperature drops below 5 °C.

removal of boiler scale

During heating, the calcium carbonate (chalk)
present in the water will be deposited as boiler
scale on places where the temperature is highest
(around the elements). Boiler scale will therefore be
produced to a certain extent every time the water is
heated.
The amount of boiler scale is dependent on:
– the temperature;
– the hardness of the water;
– the intensity of use.
The thin layers formed will often flake off the
elements due to temperature differences and will
then settle at the bottom of the boiler.
This can cause the build-up of a thick layer of boiler
scale around the elements over the years. This will
not affect the energy consumption, although the
temperature of the element wire may rise due to its
being encased by boiler scale and this may, in turn,
shorten its lifetime.
The removal of boiler scale is usually not necessary.
If, however, it does become necessary, the scale
can be removed by simply emptying the boiler and
removing the inside elements.
The boiler scale will then be brought out or can be
knocked off the elements.
There will usually be no boiler scale deposited on
the inside of the boiler.
