Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt dient zur Vernetzung von PCs. Es stellt dabei 5 Twisted-Pair-
Anschlüsse (RJ45) zur Verfügung.

Aus Sicherheits- und Zulassungsgründen (CE) ist das eigenmächtige Umbauen
und/oder Verändern des Produkts nicht gestattet.
Der Aufbau des Produkts entspricht der Schutzklasse 2. Als Spannungsquelle darf
nur eine ordnungsgemäße Netzsteckdose (230V/50Hz) des öffentlichen Ver-
sorgungsnetzes verwendet werden.
Geräte, die an Netzspannung betrieben werden, gehören nicht in Kinderhände.
Lassen Sie deshalb in Anwesenheit von Kindern besondere Vorsicht walten.
Gehen Sie vorsichtig mit dem Produkt um - durch Stöße, Schläge oder dem Fall aus
bereits geringer Höhe wird es beschädigt.
Konfiguration
Anschluss
Verbinden Sie die Netzspannungsbuchse über das mitgelieferte Netzkabel mit einer
Netzsteckdose. Anschließend können Sie die 5 Anschlüsse über ein CAT5-
Netzwerkkabel mit den entsprechenden RJ45-Anschlüssen der Netzwerkkarten der
PCs verbinden.
Verbinden mehrerer Netzwerk-Hubs/-Switches
Der Switch "Micronet SP605B" verfügt über eine automatische Uplink-Erkennung.
Jeder der 5 Ports kann deshalb entweder als herkömmlicher Netzwerkport oder als
Uplink-Port verwendet werden!
Für die Verbindung von zwei (oder mehreren) Hubs/Switches über ein Twisted-Pair-
Kabel ist allgemein zu beachten, dass die Datenleitungen insgesamt nur ein einzi-
ges Mal gekreuzt werden. Dies kann über mehrere Wege geschehen:
• Verbindung über eine spezielle "Uplink"-Twisted-Pair-Buchse
• Uplink-Schalter für eine der vorhandenen Twisted-Pair-Buchsen
• Verwendung eines gekreuzten Twisted-Pair-Kabels
• Automatische Uplink-Erkennung (wie bei diesem Switch)
Handhabung
Der Betrieb ist nur in trockenen Innenräumen zulässig.
Version 04/02 Verwenden Sie das Produkt niemals gleich dann, wenn es von einem kalten in einen
warmen Raum gebracht wird. Das dabei entstehende Kondenswasser kann unter

Umständen das Produkt zerstören.
Lassen Sie das Produkt zuerst uneingeschaltet auf Zimmertemperatur kom-
men. Dies kann u.U. mehrere Stunden dauern.
Achten Sie darauf, dass die Isolierung des gesamten Produkts weder beschädigt
noch zerstört wird. Das Gehäuse darf nicht geöffnet werden!
Eine Wartung oder Reparatur darf nur duch eine Fachwerkstatt durchgeführt werden.
Überprüfen Sie vor jedem Gebrauch das Produkt auf Beschädigungen!
Falls Sie Beschädigungen feststellen, so darf das Produkt NICHT an
die Netzspannung angeschlossen werden! Es besteht Lebensgefahr!
Es ist anzunehmen, dass ein gefahrloser Betrieb nicht mehr möglich ist, wenn
- das Gerät sichtbare Beschädigungen aufweist,
- das Gerät nicht mehr funktioniert und
- nach längerer Lagerung unter ungünstigen Verhältnissen oder
- nach schweren Transportbeanspruchungen.
Wenn das Produkt längere Zeit nicht in Betrieb genommen wird, so ziehen Sie das
Netzkabel aus der Netzsteckdose.
Vermeiden Sie folgende widrige Umgebungsbedingungen am Aufstellungsort oder
beim Transport:
- Nässe oder zu hohe Luftfeuchtigkeit
- Extreme Kälte oder Hitze
- Staub oder brennbare Gase, Dämpfe oder Lösungsmittel
- starke Vibrationen
- starke Magnetfelder, wie in der Nähe von Maschinen oder Lautsprechern
Achten Sie beim Aufstellen des Produkts darauf, dass die Kabel nicht geknickt oder
gequetscht werden.
Tipps & Hinweise
• Wenn Sie für Ihr Netzwerk einen eigenen Netzwerk- oder Systemadministrator
haben (etwa in einer grösseren Firma), so lassen Sie IHN Anschluss und
Verkabelung übernehmen, schließen Sie den Netzwerk-Switch NICHT selbst an!
• Das Twisted-Pair-Kabel zwischen Netzwerk-Switch und PC darf maximal je 100m
lang sein. Verwenden Sie ausschließlich sog. CAT5-Kabel.
• Die "LNK/ACT"-LEDs zeigen für jeden der 5 Ports eine korrekte Twisted-Pair-
Verkabelung (LED an), eine fehlerhafte Verkabelung; LED aus) oder eine
Datenübertragung (LED blinkt) an.
Die "10/100M"-LEDs melden die jeweilige Geschwindigkeit auf dem zugehörigen
Port (LED leuchtet bei 100MBit).
Die "FDX/COL"-LEDs haben folgende Funktion: Beim Full-Duplex-Modus sind sie
an, beim Half-Duplex-Modus aus. Bei Kollisionen von Datenpaketen blinkt die
jeweilige LED.
• Die maximale Datenübertragungsrate von 10MBit (etwas über 1MByte) bzw.
100MBit (etwas über 10MByte) pro Sekunde wird nicht erreicht.
Datenübertragung über das Netzwerk sind ja nicht nur Daten zu übertragen, son-
dern auch Protokollinformationen usw., Datenpakete müssen wiederholt werden
oder mehrere Rechner wollen gleichzeitig Daten übertragen. Weiterhin müssen
Daten von in einem PC von der Festplatte gelesen und auf einem anderen auf die
Festplatte geschrieben werden.
Effektiv sind bei 10MBit Datenübertragungsrate ca. 800kByte/s erreichbar, bei
100MBit sind einige MByte/s möglich.
• An dem Netzwerk-Switch können Sie Netzwerkkarten mit 10MBit oder
10/100MBit anschließen. Bei Netzwerkkarten mit 10/100MBit erfolgt die
Umschaltung auf 100MBit automatisch.
• Wird der Netzwerk-Switch nicht mit Strom versorgt, sind alle Anschlüsse des
Geräts außer Betrieb, eine Netzwerkverbindung ist nicht möglich.
• Jeder der 5 Ports kann als Uplink-Port benutzt werden. Deshalb verfügt der Switch
nicht über einen speziellen Uplink-Anschluss oder -Umschalter.

that results form the non-observance of the operating manual.

The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible
because of safety and approval reasons (CE).
The product has been constructed in safety class 2. As voltage source only a regu-
lar mains socket (230V/50Hz) of the public power supply is admissible.
Electricity powered devices are to be kept out of the reach of children.
Be particularly watchful in the presence of children.
Handle the product with care – impact, mechanical shock or falling, even from low
down, damages the product.

Connection
Connect the supply point with the supplied mains cable to a mains socket. After that
you may connect the 5 connections with a CAT5-network cable to the correspon-
ding RJ45-connections of the network cards of the PCs.
Connecting Several Network Hubs/Switches
The switch "Micronet SP605B" provides an automatic uplink recognition.
Each of the 5 ports may therefore be used either as a conventional network port or
as a uplink port!
When connecting two (or more) hubs/switches via a Twisted Pair cable it is of gene-
ral importance to make sure that the data lines are crossed only once. There are
several ways to achieve this:
• Connection via a special "uplink"-Twisted Pair socket
• Uplink-switch for one of the Twisted Pair sockets
• Using a Twisted Pair cable with transposed conductors
• Automatic uplink-recognition (as with this switch)

The product should only be used indoors, not outdoors.

Never turn on the device immediately after it has been brought from a cold into a
warm room. Condensation water that forms might destroy your device.

Leave the device switched off and wait until it has reached room temperature.
Depending on the circumstances this may take several hours.
Please make sure that the insulation of the complete product is neither damaged nor
destroyed. The casing must not be opened!
Maintenance or reparation work has to be carried out by a specialist's workshop.
Prior to every use make sure that the product is not damaged!
If you note any damages do NOT connect the product to the mains vol-
tage! Mortal danger!
Safe operation must be presumed to be no longer possible, if
- the product exhibits visible damage
- the device does not operate any longer
- the product was stored under unfavourable conditions for a long period of time or
- the product was exposed to extraordinary stress caused by transport.
If you are not going to operate the product for a longer period of time, pull the mains
cable out of the mains socket.
Avoid the following unfavourable conditions where the device is placed or during
transport:
- Moisture or too high air humidity
- Extreme cold or heat
- Dust or flammable gases, fumes or solvents
- Strong vibrations
- Strong magnetic fields such as in the vicinity of machines or loudspeakers
When placing the product make sure that the cables are neither bent nor squeezed.
Tips & Notes
• If you have an own administrator for your network or system (e.g. in a large com-
pany) take over the IHN-connection and the wiring, do not install the network card
by yourself and do not wire your network by yourself.
• The length of the Twisted Pair cable between network switch and PC must not
exceed 100m each. Use only so-called CAT5-cables.
• The "LNK/ACT"-LEDs indicate for each of the 5 ports individually a correct Twisted
Pair wiring (LED on), a faulty wiring (LED off) or a data transmission (LED flashes).
The "10/100"-LEDs indicate the speed of the corresponding port (LED shines for
100Mbit).
The "FDX/COL"-LEDs have the following function: They are on in the full-duplex-
mode, they are off in the half-duplex-mode. If data packets are colliding the cor-
responding LED flashes.
• The maximum data transmission rate of 10Mbit (slightly more than 1Mbyte) or
100Mbit (slightly more than 10Mbyte) per second is not achieved. When transmit-
ting data via the network there is not only data to be transmitted but also log infor-
mation, etc.; data packets have to be repeated or several computers are transmit-
ting data at the same time. Moreover data have to be read on the hard disk of one
PC and to be written on the hard disk of another.
App. 800kByte/s are effectively achievable with the data transmission rate of
10Mbit, with 100Mbit several Mbyte/s are possible.
• You may connect network cards of 10Mbit or 10/100Mbit to the network switch.
When using 10/100Mbit network cards they are automatically switched to 100Mbit.
• If the network switch is not supplied with electricity all connections of the device
are out of operation, a network connection is not possible.
• Each of the 5 ports may be used as a uplink-port. Therefore the switch does not
provide a separate uplink-connection or –switch.
