Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety instructions!
We do not assume any liability for any consequential damage!
Nor do we assume liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by improper use or failure
to observe the safety instructions. The warranty will be void in such cases.
The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the product is inadmissible due to safety and
approval reasons (CE).
The design of the wall plug transformer complies with safety class II. As a voltage source for the AC
transformer only a normal power socket (230V~/50Hz) connected to the domestic mains system
should be used.
The device is not a toy. Keep devices that operate on the mains voltage out of the reach of children!
Therefore, be especially careful when children are around.
Do not carelessly leave the packaging material lying around since it could become a dangerous play-
thing for children.
The product should only be used in dry indoor areas, it must not be exposed to humidity or wetness.
There is a risk of a lethal electric shock!
Handle the product with care, it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops, even
from a low height.
Connection
• Screw tight the WLAN antenna provided on to the correct connector.
• Select the desired operating mode by means of the sliding switch on the rear of the device:
Router:
WWW
Modem
For this mode of operation an external modem is necessary, for connecting to the internet. All computers are con-
nected via WLAN since the mini-router does not have its own wired switch.
Take care to activate the encryption (WPA2 recommended) during configuration!
Accesspoint:
GW-MF54G2
Using this operating mode, an existing wired network can be upgraded with a WLAN. Connect the network port of
the WLAN adapter to a RJ45 port of your network, e.g. to a switch or a router.
Client/Converter:
GW-MF54G2
Devices without WLAN can be retrofitted with WLAN in this operating mode, in order to establish a connection to a
wireless network.

• Depending on the operating mode, the RJ45 network port of the WLAN adapter is now to be connected to you
modem, switch/router or computer via a 1:1 wired cable (e.g. the network cable provided). Please pay attention to
the above illustration.
• Connect the WLAN adapter to the mains, using the plug-in transformer (230V~/50Hz) supplied. The WLAN adapter
now starts a self-test; this can take up to 1 minute. After this, the WLAN adapter is ready for operation.

Configuration, Selecting the operating mode
There is a detailed manufacturer's operating manual in the English language on the CD provided.
For quick installation, please observe the following sections.
If the operating mode is to be changed, using the slide switch on the side, disconnect the WLAN-
Adapter first from the mains voltage (unplug the transformer from the mains socket or unplug the low-
voltage plug from the WLAN-adapter).
Only then may the slide switch be set to another position. Otherwise, the switch to another operating
mode will not be recognised!
LED Description:
1 Power-LED, this is lit if the WLAN-Adapter is powered via the mains transformer provided
2 LED for the RJ45 port, this is lit when the network connection is active, e.g. to the computer or to the
router/switch
3 LED for WLAN, this flashes or is lit during data transfer via
Operation as a WLAN Router
• Please take notice primarily of sections „Connection" and „Configuration".
• If not done yet, set the lateral slide switch to the position „Router" and then connect the WLAN adapter to the DSL
modem. Then connect the WLAN adapter to the mains supply.
• There is a DHCP server integrated in the WLAN adapter that automatically allocates the IP addresses.
Starting the web server integrated in the WLAN adapter can take up to one minute. There are no IP
address allocated to any external device during this period.
The DHCP server allocates IP addresses in the range 192.168.1.x. The IP address 192.168.1.100 (Subnet-Mask
255.255.255.0) is allocated to the WLAN adapter.
The operating system must be set up so that an IP address is automatically allocated during start up to the network
interface card. In Windows XP and Windows Vista this function is the default setting.
If a fixed IP address was assigned to your computer/operating system's network card, you have to change this in
the Windows system control, since otherwise communication with the router is not possible.
Further, it is important that there is only one DHCP server in the network. If you operate this router and a network
hard disk for example, only one DHCP server can be switched on (we recommend the router's DHCP server is
switched on).
In „WLAN-Router" mode the configuration thus has to be done wirelessly. You therefore have to log in your com-
puter to the WLAN of the router. The name of the unprotected WLAN is „Conrad". If a connection has been estab-
lished you can continue with the configuration.
• Start your Internet browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) and enter „192.168.1.100" into the address line (without quota-
tion marks).
The login screen of the router should now appear. Enter „admin" for the user name and „0000" as the password (four
times figure „0").
You then come to the internal web server used for further configuration.
• Click „MODE", and you can set further configurations via the „Setup" button (in „Router mode" the other buttons are
greyed-out since the WLAN adapter is in the „Router" operating mode).
• Depending on which provider you use, the configuration of the router is different.
• In the simplest case, in „Setup" click on „WAN Port" and select „PPPoE" as the way of access. The the user name
and the password supplied by your provider can be entered. After saving this data and restarting the router, Internet
access for the computers should be available.
If you want to use the WLAN of the routers, in any event check the channel (= „Channel Number") to match the one
of your terminal, e.g. your notebook. If necessary change the channel. For instance, channel 11 is the most widely
used channel in Germany.
Do not forget to activate the encryption from „Security" („WPA2" is recommended, select „WPA2-
PSK").
For further security, all MAC addresses (do not confuse with IP addresses!) of the computers that are entitled to
establish connection to the Internet or to the router can be entered under „Access Control".
Usually the MAC addresses are imprinted on the network cards or WLAN-sticks; entering the command „ipconfig/all"
at the Windows prompt will also show the MAC address.
Because every network adapter has an individual MAC address, this increases additionally the security of the wire-
less network, since only computers that have their MAC address saved in the router are granted access.
• For a configuration with T-Online the user name has to be entered as follows:
Line identity + T-Online no. + „#" + secondary user no. + „@t-online.de"
Example: Data of your order confirmation by T-Online:
11111111111
„Line identity"
222222222222 „relevant „T-Online no"
0001
„Secondary user no/suffix"
Example of a username: 111111111111222222222222#0001@t-online.de
The hash sign might not be necessary.
Operating mode Access Point
• Please take notice primarily of sections „Connection" and „Configuration".
If not yet done, set the lateral slide switch to the „AP" (=Access Point) position. Then, connect the WLAN adapter to
your network and only after this to the power supply.
• There is a DHCP server integrated in the WLAN adapter that automatically allocates the IP addresses. In addition,
see section „Operation as WLAN router".
Normally, the DHCP server in the WLAN adapter turns off when another DHCP server is active in the network. If this
is not the case, turn off either the other DHCP server manually, or the integrated DHCP server in the WLAN adapter."
