Bestimmungsgemäße Verwendung
Das Produkt ist zum Einbau in einen 5.25"-Schacht eines Computergehäuses vorgesehen und
dient dort zum Einbau einer 3.5"-Festplatte und deren Kühlung.
Das Produkt entspricht den nationalen und europäischen Richtlinien. Alle enthaltenen Firmen-
namen und Produktbezeichnungen sind Warenzeichen der jeweiligen Inhaber. Alle Rechte

Einbau
Falls Sie keine Fachkenntnisse für den Einbau besitzen, so lassen Sie den
Einbau von einer FACHKRAFT oder einer entsprechenden Fachwerkstatt
durchführen!
Durch unsachgemäßen Einbau wird sowohl das Produkt als auch Ihr
Computer und alle angeschlossenen Geräte beschädigt.
Vorsicht, Lebensgefahr!
Schalten Sie den Computer, in den das Produkt eingebaut werden soll und
alle angeschlossenen Geräte aus und trennen Sie alle Geräte von der
Netzspannung, ziehen Sie den Netzstecker! Das Ausschalten über den Ein-
/Ausschalter genügt nicht!
• Öffnen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers und nehmen Sie den Gehäusedeckel vorsichtig
ab.
• Suchen Sie einen freien 5.25"-Schacht für Laufwerke. Entfernen Sie die zugehörige
Frontblende Ihres Computergehäuses. Je nach Gehäuse ist dies unterschiedlich möglich
(manche sind geschraubt, manche geclipst).
Dahinter liegt u.U. eine Metallabdeckung, die entfernt werden muss. Auch dies ist je nach
Gehäuse unterschiedlich möglich; bei vielen Gehäusen ist diese mit einem Schraubendre-
her herauszubrechen, bei anderen muss zum Abschrauben die komplette Gehäuse-Front
entfernt werden. Achten Sie darauf, dass Sie sich nicht an scharfen Metallkanten schnei-
den.
• Konfigurieren Sie die Stiftleisten Ihrer Festplatte, falls erforderlich (z.B. Master-/Slave-
Einstellung einer IDE-Festplatte).
• Öffnen Sie den Deckel des 5.25"-Einschubs „Hardcano 14".
• Die mitgelieferten Wärmeleitpads sind mit Schutzfolien versehen. Entfernen Sie diese vor
der Anbringung im 5.25"-Einschub.
Je nach Festplatte kann sowohl auf als auch unter der Festplatte je ein Wärmeleitpad
angebracht werden (z.B. Metallabdeckung über der Elektronik der Festplatte vorhanden).
Bei manchen Festplatten sollten Sie jedoch die Wärmeleitpads beide auf der Oberseite der
Festplatte anbringen, da kein Wärmekontakt über das Wärmeleitpad zwischen Elektronik
und 5.25"-Einschub besteht. Das Wärmeleitpad wäre hier sinnlos.
Dies gilt vor allem bei einer flacheren Festplatte, für die vier Abstandshalter beiliegen. Wenn
Sie feststellen, dass zwischen dem Wärmeleitpad auf der Oberseite der Festplatte und dem
Gehäuseoberteil des 5.25"-Einschubs kein Kontakt besteht, so ist die Festplatte zu
entnehmen und die mitgelieferten Abstandshalter auf die 4 Haltestifte im 5.25"-Einschub
aufzustecken.
• Setzen Sie die Festplatte auf die vier Stifte auf, so dass der Stromanschluss der Festplatte
von der Frontseite weg nach hinten zeigt.
• Verschließen Sie den Deckel des 5.25"-Einschubs und schrauben Sie ihn zu.
• Schieben Sie den 5.25"-Einschub in den freien Einbauschacht Ihres Computergehäuses
und schrauben Sie ihn dort fest.
• Verbinden Sie den 5.25"-Stromstecker des Lüfters und den Stromanschluss Ihrer Festplat-
te mit den entsprechenden Anschlüssen des Netzteils. Anschließend verbinden Sie das
Datenkabel (z.B. SATA oder IDE) mit Ihrer Festplatte. Achten Sie bei IDE-Festplatte auf den
richtigen Anschluss des Flachbandkabels (Pin 1 des Flachbandkabels ist farbig markiert
und liegt auf der Seite des Stromanschlusses).
• Verlegen Sie alle Kabel so, dass sie nicht in einen Lüfter des Computers gelangen können
und diesen in seiner Funktion behindern.
Sichern Sie die Kabel z.B. mit Kabelbindern.
• Verschließen Sie das Gehäuse Ihres Computers.

• Verbinden Sie Ihren Computer und Monitor mit der Netzspannung und schalten Sie alle
Geräte ein.
• Startet Ihr Computer nicht korrekt, so schalten Sie ihn sofort aus und kontrollieren Sie
sämtliche Einstellungen und Kabelverbindungen.
Vor dem erneuten Öffnen des Computers ist dieser wieder von der Netz-
spannung zu trennen, siehe oben!
Tipps & Hinweise
• Der integrierte Lüfter saugt Luft durch die Frontseite des 5.25"-Einschubs an und bläst diese
nach innen an der Festplatte vorbei.
• Je nach Dicke der Festplatte sind die mitgelieferten Abstandshalter auf die Haltestifte
aufzustecken, bevor die Festplatte eingesetzt wird. Andernfalls besteht kein Wärmekontakt
zwischen der Oberseite der Festplatte und dem 5.25"-Einschub.
• Abhängig von der Bauweise der Festplatte können die beiden Wärmeleitpads auch auf der
Oberseite der Festplatte angebracht werden.
Verschiedene Festplatten verfügen auf der Unterseite (über der Elektronik) ebenfalls über
eine Metallabdeckung. Hier sollte ein Wärmeleitpad oben und ein Wärmeleitpad unten auf
der Festplatte angebracht werden.
• Entfernen Sie immer alle Schutzfolien der Wärmeleitpads. Andernfalls erfolgt nur eine sehr
schlechte Übertragung der Wärme von der Festplatte zum 5.25"-Einschub.
• Staub auf der Frontseite des 5.25"-Einschubs, der sich bei längerem Betrieb dort sammeln
kann, lässt sich leicht mit einem sauberen weichen Pinsel und einem Staubsauger
entfernen.
Entsorgung

Elektrische und elektronische Produkte dürfen nicht in den Hausmüll! Entsorgen
Sie das Produkt am Ende seiner Lebensdauer gemäß den geltenden gesetzli-
chen Bestimmungen.

Prescribed use
The product is to be installed in a 5.25" slot of a computer housing and is meant for the
installation of a 3.5" hard disk and its cooling.
The product corresponds to the valid national and European guidelines. All company names

Installation
When in doubt about how to install the device correctly, please contact an
EXPERT or a specialist workshop and let them carry out the installation!
In case of improper installation, the product as well as your computer and
all connected devices will be damaged.
Lethal Danger!
Switch off the computer in which the product is to be installed and all
connected devices and separate all devices from the mains voltage.
Unplug the mains plug! To switch the device off via the ON/OFF switch is
not enough!
• Open the housing of your computer and carefully take off the lid of the housing.
• Look for a free 5.25" slot for drives. Remove the corresponding front plate of your computer
housing. This varies depending on the housing (some are screwed, some are clipped).
There may be a metal cover sheet behind it, which needs to be removed. Also this varies
depending on the housing. With some housings, it might be necessary to break off the cover
with a screwdriver. With other housings, you might have to unscrew the complete front of
the housing. Make sure not to cut into sharp metal edges.
• If necessary, configure the pin contact strips of your hard disk (e.g. Master/Slave setting of
an IDE hard disk).
• Open the cover of the 5.25" plug-in unit "Hardcano 14".
• The heat conduction pads included in the delivery are covered with a protection film.
Remove the latter before the installation of the 5.25" plug-in unit.
Depending on the hard disk, you can place a heat conduction pad on as well as under the
hard disk (e.g. metal cover over the electronic circuit of the hard disk available)
With some hard disks, you must, however, place both heat conduction pads on the top side
of the hard disk, as there is no heat contact via the heat conduction pad between electronic
circuit and 5.25" plug-in unit. Here, the heat conduction pad is useless.
This is mainly valid with a flatter hard disk for which we included four spacers. If you notice
that there is no contact between the heat conduction pad on the top side of the hard disk and
the upper part of the casing of the 5.25" plug-in unit, remove the hard disk and mount the
spacers included in the delivery on the 4 positioning pins in the 5.25" plug-in unit.
• Place the hard disk on the four pins in such a way that the power supply terminal of the hard
disk from the front side up points towards the back.
• Close the cover of the 5.25" plug-in unit and screw it.
• Slide the 5.25" plug-in unit into a free slot of your computer housing and screw it firmly.
• Connect the 5.25" mains plug of the fan and the power supply terminal of your hard disk with
the corresponding terminals of the mains unit. Finally, connect the data cable (e.g. SATA
or IDE) with your hard disk. With IDE hard disks, make sure to connect the ribbon cable
correctly (Pin 1 of the ribbon cable is marked in color, and is placed at the side of the power
supply terminal).
• Lay all cables in a way so that they cannot get into a fan of the PC and hinder its function.
Fix the cables e.g. with cable fasteners.
• Close the computer case.
• Connect your computer and monitor with the mains voltage und switch on all devices.

• If your computer does not start correctly, switch it off straight away and control all settings

and cable connections.

Tips & Notes
• The integrated fan sucks air via the front of the 5.25" plug-in unit and blows the air inward
past the hard disk.
• Depending on the thickness of the hard disk, the spacers included in the delivery must be
mounted onto the positioning pins, before using the hard disk. Otherwise, there is no heat
contact between the top side of the hard disk and the 5.25" plug-in unit.
• Depending on the model of the hard disk, it might be possible to place both heat conduction
pads on the top side of the hard disk.
Some hard disks are equipped, on the lower side (over the electronic circuit) with a metal
cover. In such a case, place one heat conduction pad on the top and one heat conduction
pad on the bottom of the hard disk.
• Always remove any protective film off the heat conduction pad. Otherwise, the result is a very
bad transfer of heat from the hard disk to the 5.25" plug-in unit.
• Dust that accumulates on the front of the 5.25" plug-in unit due to longer use, can be
removed via a clean, soft brush and a vacuum cleaner.
Disposal

Electric and electronic products must not be disposed of in the domestic waste.
At the end of its serviceable life, dispose of the product according to the relevant
statutory requirements.
