Intended use
This product is suitable for digitalising business cards. With the aid of the software included, the
data from the business cards can be read in and categorised and archived in a database. The
software features automatic text recognition (OCR = optical character recognition). The data
that are read in can be exported into other database formats. Content from already existing
databases can also be imported.
For safety and approval purposes (CE), you must not rebuild and/or modify this product. If you
use the product for purposes other than those described above, the product may be damaged. In
addition, improper use can cause hazards such as short circuiting, fire, electric shock etc. Read
the instructions carefully and keep them. Make this product available to third parties only together
with its operating instructions.

Safety instructions
Read the operating instructions carefully and especially observe the safety
information. If you do not follow the safety instructions and information
on proper handling in this manual, we assume no liability for any resulting
personal injury or damage to property. Such cases will invalidate the warranty/
guarantee.
Persons / Product
The device is not a toy. Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.
Do not leave packaging material lying around carelessly. These may become dangerous
playing material for children.
Protect the product from extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, strong jolts, high humidity,
moisture, flammable gases, vapours and solvents.
Do not place the product under any mechanical stress.
If it is no longer possible to operate the product safely, take it out of operation and protect it
from any accidental use. Safe operation can no longer be guaranteed if the product:
-
is visibly damaged,
-
is no longer working properly,
-
has been stored for extended periods in poor ambient conditions or
-
has been subjected to any serious transport-related stresses.
Please handle the product carefully. Jolts, impacts or a fall even from a low height can damage
the product.
Also observe the safety and operating instructions of any other devices which are connected
to the product.
Miscellaneous
Consult an expert when in doubt about operation, safety or connection of the device.
Maintenance, modifications and repairs are to be performed exclusively by an expert or at a
qualified shop.
If you have questions which remain unanswered by these operating instructions, contact our
technical support service or other technical personnel.
4.
Installing the software
1.
Place the CD included in the delivery in the corresponding drive of your computer.
2.
Open the "setup.exe" file on the CD to start the installation process.
3.
Choose the desired language.

The installation program will lead you semi-automatically through the program installation, in
the course of which the licence agreement has to be accepted and a storage location other
than the one suggested can be established.
5.
After successful installation a link to the "CardScanner" program appears on the desktop.

Operation
1.
Connect the scanner via the USB cable to a free USB port of your computer. The scanner is
automatically detected as new hardware.
2.
Start the "CardScanner" program.
3.
When you open the program for the first time, you will be asked to register. Enter the
registration code from the CD jacket, including the hyphens.
4.
Carefully lift the scan arm up until it stops in nearly vertical position.
5.
Put a business card on the scanner. Make sure that the business card lies flush with the raised
side parts. The side which is to be scanned must face upward.
6.
In the icon bar, click on the camera icon (2nd from left). A new window appears in the centre
of the screen.
7.
Press the button with the sun symbol on the scanner to switch the lighting on the scan arm
on/off.
8.
Press the button with the camera symbol on the scanner. The business card is scanned and at

the same time a new data set is started with the information from the business card.
You can find extensive information on the individual functions of the software in the
Help menu of the software.
6.
Cleaning
Before cleaning, separate the scanner from the USB port.
Camera lens
Blow off loose particles using clean compressed air and then brush the remaining debris away
with a fine lens brush.
Wipe the surface with a lens cleaning cloth or a clean, soft, lint-free cloth.
In the case of fingerprints or any other grease formation, the cloth may be moistened with
water or lens cleaning fluid.
Do not use acid, alcohol, or other solvents or harsh, linty cloth to clean the lens.
Avoid and excessive pressure.
Housing
To clean the exterior housing, use soap and water or a mild commercial cleaner.
Do not use abrasive or solvents.
7.
Disposal
In order to preserve, protect and improve the quality of environment, protect human
health and utilise natural resources prudently and rationally, the user should return
unserviceable product to relevant facilities in accordance with statutory regulations.
The crossed-out wheeled bin indicates the product needs to be disposed separately
and not as municipal waste.
